I am Hindu, I was born in india but moved to US at the age of 7 (now 16) and am currently US citizen. I had disliked hindi movies for a while as well, always saying how predictable the plot is and all movies have the same theme>>>
1. Male and female fall in love.

3. They overcome the problem and live happily ever after.

Ya.... same movies, pretty predictable... but now i have (very) recently started to watch hindi movies again. I've seen a few new ones and fortunately they had different plots!
Examples:
Laagan : This movie is great!! I watched it on dvd a couple days ago, superb. Completely original, and its almost 4 hours (It's like lord of the rings, the extra hours make the movie only greater!), and the entire thing was just made so well, and great acting! This movie actually made me emotional at its high points.

American Desi: I don't even know if this is released in India (it has some lot of scenes which may be offensive). Overall it was a good movie, even though the ending could have been more detailed (what happened to the Jagjit Singh, did he leave the college and become a artist, need closure!).

I've got a ton of dvds (and a few vcds as well as divx movies) that I plan to be watching everyweekend. All the videos I have are good quality. Can someone recommend some good Hindi movies (preferably original plot, but if its good, I don't mind either way)???

And the thing about the girls.... my god, even my friends at school (who have probably never met a indian girl in their life) think that indian girls look HOTTTT! If you think otherwise, its probably somthing thats more psychological than physical... A lot of indian women are hot (especially the ones i've met in america! DAMNNNN they're gorgeus).

It doesn't matter whether it's this millenium or that. The fact remains that they were copied. All over India - the film industry prolly churns out 20 times the number of films US turns out in a year. Definitely 50% of them are copies from English and from old Indian films itself. Hell, we had 5 copies of sleeping with the enemy itself, but 50 % which is still 10 times the no of movies Hollywood produces are original themes. Hell Jackie Chan came to Indian Film Awards ceremony and publicly expressed his wish to do Hindi film and asked producers to think about it. You are just ignorant since you don't know the what's on the other side of the wall. Angelina Jolie was a torch bearer in the same Indian Film Awards. I just happened to see that Awards ceremony. I don't have time for those at all. I think that was in 2000. Well, yeah you can still say, welcome to the new millenium to me. FYI, Hritik Roshan, one of our upcoming heroes is doing a film in Hollywood with "Rambo". Plus, most of the movies in Hollywood are taken from some author's story. So, when the "copy", as you call it is made in India, it is actually following the book, and not your celluloid. The author and it's publishers sells the same book in India. Maybe you should ask them not to sell. When you see it that way, we have equal rights on the story as your Holly flick. BTW, all my coworkers are white and we enjoy going to watch Hindi films in theaters. But, then again they are rational human beings working in a multicultural environment and has come to accept the mix of culture over the states. How old are you and what do you do?

Karachi has Vcds dirt cheap for around $30 (Pakistani Currency) I bought a so many 2 years ago but I plan to go again this summer so I will be picking up mostly ps2 games. By the way they are bootleg with the cd stamped they look very real =)
