Indian couple slain in 'honor killing'

http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/07/08/india.honor.killings/

india sux. why didnt he fight back or elope? stupid. sad.

Soooo.... two people were murdered and the murderers were arrested and charged with murder. Why do you hate india now?

It's not like anyone goes around saying "OMG, that one dude in the news beat and raped his kids and when the cops came he murdered his family! America sux! Stupid."

A handful of crazy hicks do not a country make. Now if the family got away with a slap on the wrist, I would understand your concern. But in this case, the justice system works there just like it works here... murderers are captured and punished. Hopefully these crazies are, at the very least, put away for the rest of their lives.

If you're going to hate a country, hate it for something involving the population as a whole, the conditions, the government or justice system. Do not hate it because it has some freaks that aren't condoned by anyone.

::Edit:: Also FYI, LOTS of young kids elope in Indian nowadays. And just like here, the parents very often don't approve. However, they generally DO NOT go around murdering their children out of disapproval.

"We killed them because we were against their relationship. If someone comes to your house to meet your niece at midnight, what more do you do?" her uncle, Om Prakash, told reporters in televised remarks outside a police station in the Indian capital following his arrest.

Well, Om, torturing and killing is obviously the next logical step. 🙄 And the neighbors don't sound any better.

Every country has their own ignorant hillbillies. India's no different.

Charged... but I want to know what the penalty ends up being.

Considering that, according to the very same article, there's an outcry on the national level regarding these killings and a lot of media i'd assume they'd get punished quite severely.

Don't see how this is much different from any other loony murdering people. Of course, murdering members of your own family (your own daughter!) is lower than low.

But yeah, the motivation is not religion or cultural traditions. The motivation is being a subhuman lunatic. They just use that other shit as an excuse.

You think that is bad? I routinely hear of parents killing their children and/or themselves in the USA. Those savage Americans. USA sux, not a place I would ever visit.

For those who think it's simple murder, google Aqsa Parvez. Probably one of the most disgusting crimes I've ever read about. Not because of how she died but because of her family's reaction.

This is more than a handful of crazy hicks. Your arguments are fail, fail, and fail.

Also, why not shed light on the BARBARIC AND VOODOO-DRIVEN cultural phenomena such as these. That's how to get people pissed off, which is the best way to get them active, which is the only way to stop such lunacy.

Also, I agree, SandEagle is a moron.

"Big, thick sticks were being used. The girl was screaming, kill me but leave him," said Umesh Kumar, who is not related to Yogesh. "They were beating her so much, the blood was like a fountain coming out of her head."
:'(

God damnit. That gave me a weird feeling in my throat.
