Someone stated "Go Muslims, show us the love of the Qur'an." in the thread about Sri Lanka, which has a minority Muslim population. ManSnake is just making a joke.

Took me a while but I got his sarcasm. People were ready to start the "We Hate Muslims" chant when it was announced that Sri Lanka denied foreign troops from entering it's soil but when A.) It was pointed out that Sri Lanka is a Buddhist nation and B.) They accepted the non-military aide from Israel, everything and everyone seem to quite down real fast.

India gets the big thumbs up. I know of three doctors that work with my wife who are going back home to help, and at least one nurse.

80% of Indians are hindus. Next time, research before opening that cesspit which is your mouth.

ummm i'd rather he not open his mouth at all..... we all know the kind of 'research' he is capable of

how about if the US cancels their "inagural ball", with a price tag of 30M+, and dontate that money to people that could use it much more than we could use a ball for a re-elected president?

Hat's off to India btw

Did I miss the part where Sri Lanka and India were now interchangeable? What Sri Lanka did is reprehensible. What India did is admirable. End of discussion.

A hurricane posted in a Tsunami thread.

Pledges of U.S. assistance remained at $35 million, but parallel Pentagon (news - web sites) spending was spiraling upward and could not be calculated quickly. The relief included the arrival of four C-130 cargo planes in Thailand loaded with food, water and sheltering material, and a large supply of rice and other food and assistance was due to arrive in Indonesia by New Year's Eve, a senior U.S. official said.

Several European countries far outdistanced the United States in pledges. They include Britain, $95 million; Sweden, $75.5 million; Spain, $68 million and France, $57 million.

And the World Bank (news - web sites) announced it would make $250 million available as an initial contribution for emergency reconstruction. The amount is for the next six months.

I'm sure all these numbers will increase as the reports of the massive destruction and need increase.

Although I'd like to see donations come from the oil producing countries (Saudi Arabia). My guess is they've done pretty good with oil prices as they are.

its funny now the wires are pickign up the news.

India was one of the first countries to send its warships and stuff.. when sri lanka and maldives called a state of emergency, they sent ships and stuff.. this was within the first 12 hrs.

India does have a military presence in the region. Sri Lanka and Maldives know if something goes wrong india is there to help.
Backin 88 i think when male was under some coup, india sent warships before the US or the UK reacted. It was over before the US or UK could even start dispatching troops.
