Or, you know, they just don't think the game is that great.

Yes, opinions

Anyway,
Auto-Aim is the bane of my gaming enjoyment. The Modern Warfare games for example... i'd rather auto-aim a gun against my head than play them.

I think the comments about simplified controls are made for the following reason. Before consoles were the main platform for FPS games, everyone used a mouse and keyboard to play them. The mouse affords one incredible fast-twitch accuracy with the cursor. This precision is not possible with two analog thumb sticks. To counteract the less precise console controls, game developers started to implement auto targeting into the game and larger hit-boxes, which has done nothing more than make games easier and more accessible.

Games should be hard, skill should be rewarded. The hit-box for a targets head should not be any larger than the actual models head.... unfortunately it now is. That fact that I can score a headshot in Modern warfare by aiming 6 inches to the right of the targets head is absolute garbage. That is what i mean when i say "console'ization" of the FPS genre.

Add to that the fact that graphics are now being scaled back to accommodate console hardware and you end up with a lot of disappointed PC gamers (ie, this forum thread).

The Half-Life 1 had an auto aim as well. For single player who cares... If you don't want it just turn it off. Multiplayer is another story altogether though, and it should be disabled entirely. Though I think it's safe to assume Crysis multiplayer will just be tacked on. It will never compete with the Call of Duty's or the Battlefield's.

The funny thing ithink counter-strike still has the crown as the best online multiplayer shooter till this day. and that game didnt have any story mod.

Again with the bland 'console' complaints. The original Unreal Tournament had an auto-aim option for goodness sake and I think it was even enabled by default. I really don't know what you mean about simplified controls though.

So why do you seem to have an issue with people who do like those games? You can't seem to give any reasons why they werent any good.

Auto aim was off by default, crysis 2 on the other hand is on by default and that is just wrong.

I have never actually heard anyone say they like Far Cry and Crysis though. Just look at this thread alone - people cancelling their pre-orders because it might not support DX11.

All they talk about are the graphics.

So then turn the option off and stop going on about it.

Well this is the Video Cards and GRAPHICS sub-forum. You should go to th thread over in PC Gaming if you want people to talk about the gameplay and story.

The real question is why is auto-aim on by default in a PC game? Even in freaken GTA IV the only time auto aim is on is when you use a gamepad.

I for one did like both Far Cry 1 and Crysis, and not just for the graphics. I would never buy a game for graphics alone. It needs to deliver in both the graphics and gameplay department.

Can we see the full release before we call it a flop? It's like using a leaked beta version of windows that crashes all the time and complaining what a flop the new windows is going to be.:/ You want pc gaming to push the envelope to the max but you're running a gtx 460?

There is no need for me to run anything else. All the games I currently play are maxed out...if there is no need, I would only be spending $100s more for....umm.....NOTHING.

Idont think Blizzard will turn on the console side ever, as for valve we saw l4d2/hl2 on consoles. so im not so sure about them.

The main problem with gaming that there are less and less inative good ideas, every developer is just cloning each other ideas with minor changes. bioware is an exception with the mass effect series cuz its uniqe.

I don't care that l4d and hl are showing up on consoles. That's perfectly fine with me as long as the PC versions don't suffer as a result. Even console porting doesn't bother me too much and long as they do a decent job. ME2 for example was clearly developed for the 360 first and foremost, but it works just as well if not better on the PC.

Its better for PC actually, cause you can use Hotkeys to assign powers, you don't have to pause the game every 30secs.

Maxed out lol. What res do you play at? 720p? I can't run everything at 1080p maxed out with an overclocked gtx 580. To me maxed out is at least 60fps with every possible piece of eye candy maxed. I really like to get 70-80fps. Playing in 3d would have your 460 in a corner crying begging for mercy.

Bioware is a great example of a company that makes games that are amazing.
Bioware is known for great gameplay and great story.

Crytek is known for great gameplay and great graphics...

I also liked both Far Cry 1 and Crysis... because they were awesome. Also, they both represented the cutting cutting edge of graphics when they were released. It's a shame that is appears Crysis 2 has not provided a similar leap forward.

Controls on pc were always better then consoles, hell I even enjoyed playing sf4 online on keyboard then a controller and I have a 360.

Don't be so absurd.

Does it really matter? You will be editing a dozen or so options anyway.

So changing the keyboard layout is just business as usual but having to untick auto-aim is OMG I AM BEING INVADED BY CONSOLES

Well, it's really poor coding.

How hard is it to get change "Press Start to Begin" to "Press Enter to begin"

Or

disable Auto Aim for PC version

It speaks VOLUMES about Coding/Development/lack of QA/Implementation planning....amongst many other things.

Nothing new....this is EA game after all.

That's why my hopes for Battlefield 3 are VERY low (just like they were for Crysis 2)

... And the original Crysis remains king of graphics for the foreseeable future.

The day they annouced Crysis 2 was coming to consoles (and set in a urban environment) way back when was the biggest clue that the game would be a graphical letdown. I waited on the game play but now see that also is a letdown. Maximum Fail indeed, but who didn't see this coming?

"yes, its just one more example of PG gaming having is balls cut off"

another example being the "balls cut off" graphics in Crysis 2.

Agreed, i like how Crysis 1 still brings the best gaming rigs to their knees. Maybe once people are building systems with crossfire'd dual 6990's and sli'd GTX 590's we will finally see systems capable of running Crysis well on Ultra settings.

But wait, you will get a patch with DX11 sprinkle in coming future!!!!

I was reading Nvidia Benchmark review of Crysis2....it seems like they are in bed with EA or something, cause not sure who in their right mind would state that Crysis 2 graphics are better then original.

Apparently there aren't "a dozen or so options". You get 3 graphics settings and thats it.

Also, how am I being absurd? If you look at the PC gaming section, you will see some of the same posters talking about gameplay instead of graphics. So this is the wrong section for that.

If DX11 was cut out only to be released as an Nvidia exclusive because they paid them... that would just be lame. Very, very lame.
