Hi, I recently put together a system and appearantly I have a very hot CPU. Off of MBM5, it states that I get 117degrees celcius when the computer is left at the windows xp desktop(fresh installation of XP no programs at all except for MBM5). Isn't that impossible? I went to check BIOS and a more normal temperature of 40degrees celcius is shown. I'm guessing this is just a motherboard error? If so, can someone point me to a different piece of software to monitor temps?(I fear I may have messed up on HSF installation of the CPU). Thanks for your help.

System config:
AMD 3500+ 90nm
MSI Neo2 Plat
XP-90 with 92mm Panaflo
74gb Raptor
6800GT with NV5
Antec 1080AMG with 430W TruePower

Did you have any trouble installing the heatsink/fan? Personally, I don't trust anything but the BIOS to give me a temperature reading.

I suggest downloading the latest BIOS update for your mobo. That temperature seems unlikely even if you messed up the HSF installation. Try that and see if it works...

mBM is no longer an active developed product and therefore support for newer boards like MSI Ne02 plat is not there....I would recommend using speedfan and/or corecenter that came with the board....

118c would have long shut down board or cpu for good...obviously an error by the mbm program....

Bios is likely correct but there is a bios update that fixes some issues with temp reporting and voltage reporting...recommend 1.4 or newer bios...
