Unbelievable. My sister has the Time-Warner SA-8300 HD DVR from Time Warner cable in Manhattan, NY City.
She has been trying to find the amount of recording space used for a while now. So she turned to me to look it up, since she gets put on hold forever when she calls and the one time she gets thru the service rep didn't understand the question.

So I google it and here's what I get from the Time-Warner website:

Q: How can I find out how much memory I have left on my DVR?

A: Navigator doesn?t show that information. It will alert you if a show fails to record because of a lack of available memory.

Absolutely un-frickin believable.
In fact on the Scientific Atlanta website, the maker of the dvr, they have a generic user guide which clearly shows how to get the memory usage.

Apparently Time-Warner CHOSE not to include any information on how much of your recording space has been used.

Doesn't EVERY cable company dvr include this info?

it's 20 hours of HD footage or 80 hours of SD, and if you combine the 2 you get somewhere in the middle.

Also, my bud on the west side of manhattan has a different OS which does tell the space remaining. I bought the 400gb WD external extend drive so i don't worry about space.

We have TWC in Cincy and also have the SA 8300 HD-DVR. When you use the List button in the middle of the remote; your current viewing window reduces to the upper right; there should be a "xx % full" indicated under that window.

I am not sure what model I have off hand but mine is the same way. Not nearly as helpful as it converting that number to available recording time in both HD and SD but better than nothing.
