Sprint already has different pricing for "unlimited" data speeds, its called Vision (1xRTT) and Power Vision (EVDO). It's going to be the same thing they are doing with their existing customers today - if you want an advanced device, then you will need a "compatible" plan to go with it. You won't be able to upgrade to the EVO on any of the previous plans that are out there, nor will you be able to sign a cheaper plan with an older device and "upgrade" to the EVO at the same rates. Whether or not the charge is broken out into a line item isn't really the issue. Trust me, you'll be paying extra for it.
What the hell? I understand youre a long time Sprint customer, but come on. Vision vs Power Vision doesnt exist anymore. Its simplified in the everything plans.
And it does appear, if youve been reading the other thread, there WILL be a $10 surcharge for data (4G) whether you are in a 4G data area or not.
BUT!
Its not rolled out yet, so that may change. Even with the $10 charge, its cheaper than Verizon for the (not so) Incredible. I'll copy from another thread about this. IMHO, EVO over the Incredible is a no brainer.
3.7 inch Amoled vs 4.3 LCD. There are advantages and disadvantages to amoled, but for sunlight viewing the lcd wins. And of course the bigger screen.
740MB ROM vs 1GB. No brainer.
8GB internal memory vs 0. Incredible wins this, but with SD cards, is it really a big deal?
Single 8MP camera vs 8MP AND 1.3 front facing. No brainer.
Video recording resolution: 800x480 vs 1280x720 (true high def). No brainer.
TV out: microUSB vs HDMI. No brainer.
Battery: 1300mAh vs 1500mAh. No brainer.
EVO *is* a bit bigger though.
Pricing? Sprint, even with the add ons and no discounts given, is still cheaper.
Bottom line? Incredible is, well, not so incredible anymore. I mean, its a nice phone, but....
