So whats your top 5 games if you know so much about gaming?
I dunno, off the top of my head and in no particular order
* Half Life 2
* Half Life
* Dragon Age
* Mass Effect 2
* Mass Effect

Would probably be revised if I put some effort into it. But Deus Ex was shit. Everyone knows this. And Deus Ex 2 was ultra-shit. Which means Deus Ex 3 is destined to be purified, concentrated shit. QED. My logic is undeniable.

Deus Ex is the most overrated game of all time. Even more so than Bioshock. Deus Ex 3 will be equally as disappointing.

Heh, in my opinion the exact opposite is what is wrong with gamers today. They're all whiny, needy brats who don't appreciate shit.

I agree with you.

I didn't have high hopes for this game, but if the review is accurate I may end up picking it up. But it's such a glowing review that if it ends up being a turd, RPS loses a shitload of cred IMO.

Half Life 2 was an overrated shit fest living off the name of its far superior predecessor. Everyone knows this.

As for DX3, I haven't seen any real reporting on the PC technical bullet point list yet. Mouse feel/lag, FoV, settings etc. Would be nice.
The build PC Gamer played said the mouse had a very noticeable sensitivity discrepancy between horizontal and vertical (obviously designed for a controller), but I can't imagine it shipping that way. I still find EM rather pathetic when they say this game isn't port though.

Bah i couldnt get into deus ex, i tried because of the awesome rep it has but jumping on the bandwagon in 2004 was probably a bit late for me. The very first level reminded me of doom with the massively high concrete wall around the map and when i got to castle clinton i headshotted this ugly kid who asked for candy and then couldn't find out where to go from there :(

I might check out deus ex 3 though.

lol. Deus Ex was one of the least difficult games of its time, so unless you are ~14 now (and therefore ~7 in 2004) I can't imagine how one could possibly get lost. Is this what happens when one grows up on games like Halo and Fallout 3 that have a compass built into the HUD showing exactly where one needs to go?

Human Revolution has a radar, highlighted objects, floating objective markers, and on screen button prompts, so no need for noobs to worry. ;)

Can the objective markers be turned off? Highlighted objects don't bother me anymore, and honestly I like having them at times in Fallout 3 when I get distracted and completely forget what it is I want to do, but for a relatively small-mapped and linear first-person shooter series, that sounds ridiculous.

They were made optional with the highlighting after all the negative feedback. Though the radar that shows enemies is not optional, and it's unclear if the objectives are still shown on the radar if the markers are turned off.

sorry you are wrong

that distinction belongs to the entire half life series, most specifically HL2

The original Half-Life isn't really overrated. To an extent, yeah, but it pioneered a lot of ideas in level design, scripting, and storyline that did not exist, or at least in a first person shooter context. Half-Life 2, on the other hand... sure.

PC Gamer gave it a glowing preview. But their absurd Dragon Age 2 early review still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. "RPG of the decade?" Go fuck yourselves.

Well...technically the decade had been for...2-3 months, or so. What else was there to compare it to? Two Worlds 2?

Ehh, I didn't think it was shit. But this and the Escapist early review were so far out of touch with my experience playing it, and a lot of later reviews, that it was ridiculous.

Has anyone posted this?

http://www.dasreviews.com/das-editorials/deus-ex-human-revolution-pc-performance-analysis-part-1/

Looks like Deus Ex is not going to be a game that needs a MONSTER machine. I am totally 100% okay with this, even having spent 600$ on my GPU's. I want to enjoy the game, not worry about performance constantly. To me the PC version still screams console port to me. If this means good performance cool. Crap interface, bad.

Agreed. An RPG should firstly have great gameplay, a great story and focus on the believability of the game world it seeks to create above graphics. Hell I put music, sound above graphics for a a RPG IMHO.
