That´s very bad news for 3fx...and great news for me and my GeForce 2 MX. :)

If they can really get UT to look like this while still beeing playable at at least 1024x768 on my system (I can easily do that now...) by using T&L I´l be a happy man! :)

If this stuff is playable framerate wise (for me I doubt I will have trouble) it is the next step. Just imagine what will come along for U2? This stuff is awesome, does anyone know if it will be include in the UT: GOY edition? Or will it be availible with a patch? Obviously new models and levels will be needed to create it. But this stuff looks almost as good as the stuff that takes hours to render in a 3d app.

Should U2 be released, it would finally be a reason compelling enough for me to ditch my trusty old V3 2000 oc'd to 170. I am quite certian that this game would seriously hamper my system with the V3 in it. (Duron 600@900). I still worry about compatibility. 3dfx seems to have always been more AMD friendly than nVidia; however, with poly count like that a move to a GPU would be an absolute requirement!

I think this finnaly marks the death of the TNT2's and V3's many of us have been holding out with.

Wow those shots are impressive, the tree's are some of the best I've seen yet. When Epic was stating that "Better then Halo" graphics was their goal I thought they were blowing PR smoke.

I gotta say though for terrain shots the Krytek stuff looks better. You can download the demo from nVidia. [S=nVidia demo page]http://www.nvidia.com/demos[/S]

Heres some shots:

Soccerman-

I had the little ;) in my post, it was joking(well, sort of:)). That was mainly a small poke back at all the bashing I've taken, along with a lot of other people, about how useless hardware T&L is. I would assume that the engine will allow for lower polygon modes to accomadate the non T&L accelerated part so the V5 parts should still be able to play the games at least, even if not in the best visual quality mode.

When Rampage launches, it doesn't look like I'll have anything outside of Bubba to "pick" on 3dfx about, I hope they get it out soon(honestly):)

Ben,
Being one that has argued against you on the T&L issue I must re-itterate that it is just now becomming SOMEWHAT useful in only a HANDFUL of games. Your arguement will be much stronger by next year. Currently, there is nothing on the market that I can't run on my old V3. It is difficult to say the T&L is vital in any way when such a statement is true. It looks like I may soon need an upgrade though! I do love that Unreal engine.

If I'm not mistaken, this is an upgraded UT engine thats supposed to be for Unreal2, correct? Isn't Unreal2 slated for release at the end of next year?

Doesn't that mean that 3dfx will have almost a year to get there own user-base of T&L cards to market?
