I dont usually ever get popups, but now im getting more and more with almost every page i load... I have Sygate personal firewall on, xp firewal, adaware 6 and avg all installed... And I clear my xplorer cache all the time..and I dont go to many sites, AND I have the messenger service disabled.... So I dont know why I would be getting them.

I dont really know how spam/popups work... But do I maybe have an open port or something? What should I do?

Also..I have ares file sharing on my pc, but I hardly ever have it running....

There is a new version of adaware (Adaware SE). You might want to try Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta...I've been using it and its amazing....

Do a port scan...look for Shields Up at www.grc.com

If you install a service pack, could it reenable the Windows Messenger service?

If you mean Windows Messaging Service, no. The installation of SP1 turns it off for you. If you want it back on, you have to do it manually.
