increase speed

hey all, what can I do to increase speed to crunch a wu? If I oc my boxes, what should i concentrate on specifically to oc?

don't forget to shut down the stuff running in the background too. but definately get that fsb up as high as you can.

Nice rigs! 😀 ,that Athlon XP 2000 will probably not overclock by much ,to get really high FSB you are probably going to need to unlock the multipliers so you can set a lower one.
The XP 1800 should take a fairly high FSB before it hits its limits🙂
And depending upon which version your Ath 1Ghz is ,that could overclock to a very high level 🙂 ,many people got the AXIA's 1GHz to between 1.4-1.5GHz! 😀

Happy overclocking 😉

Btw you could add that rig link to your sig

Actually, in additon to increasing the FSB, any BIOS tweaking you can do to the memory settings will help! Looks like you have a nice fleet of computers! Good luck!

Assimilator1 - you were right, got my machine (XP 2000) to 140mhz, and it worked fine for a while then crashed, I didn't want to start playing with voltages so I inched back down and left it at 138mhz. That did a LOT! lol, oh well.

I haven't gotten to the other machines yet. And I think the 1ghz is an AXIA, I was going to sell it at one point and made sure I posted that part.

JWMiddleton, thats only 3 pieces of my fleet. I have another 10 Dell Optiplex GX240's at work running 24x7, 2- PIII 500mhz, and a PIV 1.7ghz at work. I had another 18 Dell's but I had to send them on their way to the labs they were ordered for so SETI was removed, and I recycled the WU's back into the log of 10 or 11 left in that one location for the Q.

Very nice fleet you have then!😀

Btw ,that link you had for your rigs ,you know you can add it to your signiture?

re the XP2000 ,you could unlock the mulitpliers

yeah, just never got around to it, but will soon, now that I remember.

Too much of a pain to unlock it, I did however unlock the Athlon 1ghz and brought the multiplier to 10x, and the machine is running rock 1.333ghz. Cut 2 hours off the WU processing time.🙂

Yeah tell me about it ,tried to unlock my XP 1500 ,waste of time ,didn't do a thing!😕 ,I'm gonna try again some day when I have the time & patience!😉

Btw nice overclock on the 1GHz! 😀

I wanted to OC the machine more, but with teh multiplier at 10 I couldn't even push the FSB to 134mhz. To run at the 10 multiplier the voltage had to be changed from 1.775 to 1.8 and it worked fine then as it is now. I want to get it to 1.4 at least but it doesn't want to seem to cooperate with it. There's something stopping me 🙁
