Incorrect temperature readings on my E8400

I have a E8400 on a Abit IP35 Pro, bios 14, and a Tuniq Tower 120. As with others with this motherboard, the BIOS reports 127°C. So I load core temp version 0.96.1 and it reports both cores as 44°C all the time whether the CPU is idle or maxed out using Orthos. I can't believe that is the correct temperature so until they come up with a bios upgrade, I am hesitant about doing much overclocking. I have raised the FSB, and core temp reports the same temperatures.

Any thoughts? Also (this is probably a stupid question) TJ Max temperature reports 105°C, what is that?

Hmmm. Interesting. My E8400 I just installed in reading only as a 2 GHZ CPU and only 22 degrees. Mine is on an Asus P5N32-E 680i.
