Incorrect Drive size reporting

I have seen a number of reviews on Newegg about 200gb hard drives on being reported as 128gb upon installation in external drive bays. I am considering the purchase of a 200gb hd and a external drive bay, but, I want to avoid this problem. Does anyone know why people are seeing this random problem? Also ..the external bay in question is support to support up to 300gb drives.
