Incompatible Apps with Snow Leopard?

So it seems like some of you have already taken the plunge and gotten 10.6 installed on your Macs. Are there applications that won't run or have weird bugs so far? I'm itching to upgrade (since this is the only real weekend I have before real work begins) but would like to know if any of them will run without an issue.

The apps I'm most interested in are:

VLC
Perian
Growl
Photoshop Element 7

Confirmed working apps:
XSlimmer (according to developer's email)
Office 2008

vlc works fine so does growl

the only app i had that doesn't work is CyberDuck, but gettng the latest nightly build fixed that

VLC and Growl work just fine. Some Growl plugins (particularly GrowlMail and GrowlTunes) do not. Perian sort of works. QuickTime X refuses to open mkv files, but it will playback avi files with Perian codecs. I have no clue about Photoshop.

WMV support in QuickTime X is spotty at best. It recognizes them, and and knows that Flip4Mac is supposed to step in to assist, but never opens them.

-vlc works

-perian works (1.1.4 has 64 bit preference pane too). perian also plays mkv for me just fine. actually, i had to install this to get mkv working in quick look with quicktime X. just run that file once (it has an app inside) and then you will be able to play mkv in quick look and i think quicktime X as well. you can delete the app after running it once.

-growl 1.1.6 worked just fine for me, but again its in 32 bit mode. 1.2 beta 1 solves that issue (64 bit now) and so far, its running flawless for me.

-cant vouch for photoshop elements 7, i only tested CS4 and that works fine.

every app that i use works fine...minus two things. istat menus and menu meters. both have updates coming very soon.

ill write my list here just in case...

games: doomsday, duke nukem 3d (ppc), warcraft 3 and expansion, WoW 3.2

internet tools: adium, camino, firefox, frostwire, istat server, remote desktop connection, transmission, wowmatrix

multimedia: acorn, flip4mac (the latest beta is 64 bit), handbrake, synergy preferences, toast 10, vlc

utilities: appzapper, caffeine, cpu-x, idefrag, smartreporter, the unarchiver, wbfs for osx 1.2

Question for SL users

I have Tiger right now, I want to upgrade to Snow Leopard. Will Garageband Work? I am not interested in buying the box set w/ ilife09 so I am just curious if the Garageband that shipped with Tiger will work. Thanks.

Why do you use both? Don't they do the same thing?

yeah, they do the same thing. istat menus is a lot more feature packed, but i love menu meters more because of its simplicity. istat menus sometimes feels overwhelming with its plentiful customizations.

i dont use both though, i only use menu meters. however, both programs were supposed to come out shortly after snow leopard, and i honestly thought istat menus would come out first, so i would have been using that until menu meters for snow leopard is released. since both arent ready yet, i have nothing to monitor...🙁

Not sure if VisualHub works or not. It launched ok but I didn't have any files to convert. When I closed the app I got an error message so I'm not sure if it works or not.

Yea.. that's where unsupported software comes to bite you. That would suck if VH stopped working.. 🙁

I love VH.....much more then handbrake. I wish someone would use the open source code of VH and sell it again.

If it is the additional settings of VH that you enjoy, there is always ffmpegX, but I don't know if that has been actively developed in a while.

For drag and drop stuff, check out Evom, I think it is still in beta and therefore free.

I really just like the simplicity of VH. I am converting a movie right now and it looks like everything is working fine. Once its done I'll make it into a DVD and see if everything actually converted correctly. I'm guessing that its fine and I'll just have to deal with the error message upon exiting the program each time.
