Incompatibility with Return to Castle Wolfenstein?

I'm having a problem where during gameplay, usually within 1 minute of gameplay it freezes cold

I've closed all other tasks, reset everything so it isn't overclocked etc still does it

every other game works fine on my box

i'm running ak31, gef2 gts, winxp pro 2600, 23.11 drivers, everything is updated

I know of a few athlon users with this identical problem

any ideas?

I know VIA + NVIDIA == trouble for some reason anyway so hmm

I'm running RTCW with Duron 1ghz, VIA KT-133A mobo, and a GF3 w/ WinXP no problem...
i don't know where all this VIA+Nvidia trouble came from

Use the WHQL 21.83 drivers to see if that fixes it.

Lots of folk are having problems with the 23.XX's...I did..went back to 22.80.

ya, RTCW has a lot of problems

im running an Athlon 1800+ and Radeon 8500 and i got lockups when i tried to load my game up, restarted the game in safe mode and i was able to play it. I know its not really a fix, but give it a try and see what happens


anyone know if theres a patch for the game yet?

finaly got tired of the same problem ( soyo dragon+ updated bios,XP1500+@ a true 1500mhz. gforce mx400.
had 22.11 drivers worked fine for everything else but wolfy keeps hard locking about 2 min into it.
went back to the 21.83, doesn't seem to be quite as pretty, but atleast i don't need to reboot every couple min.
