$30k in NY would probably be low income, but in Kansas might be middle income. Use this to make a comparison if need be,

Edit 2: Vote based on your current position, whether that was derived from a past income or not.

One thing that isn't accounted for in that poll is that how you answer today may not be how you'd answer a year ago, or 5 years from now. The poll has no control for other factors of happiness.

I've been both happy and unhappy at my income level (which has remained fairly constant over my life). This is a better indicator of where happiness is derived than just saying I'm happy being relatively poor.
