For probably the last year, i occasionally have a pounding noise in my right ear. It is unrelated to heartbeat, movement, and numerous other things i have attempted to correlate it to. I have no obvious inner-ear health problems, i haven't had an ear infection since i was a small child, i have suffered no hearing trauma. Ear wax appearance is completely normal. It never hurts, its just very, very annoying and makes it difficult to concentrate at times. I've done a fair amount of research, and usually rule out something like Pulsatile Tinnitus because i cannot correlate it to heart beat. It hits anywhere from every 2 heartbeats to 60, and everywhere in between. It doesn't happen any more often when i'm active or inactive. As i said, i have no idea what triggers it, and it has lasted anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. It isn't so intense that i can't drown it out by listening to music, gaming, being out in public, etc...but when i'm trying to do homework or sitting in class it can be very aggravating. i DO have some upper nasal issues, and possibly a polyp, which i plan on seeing an ENT about in the next few weeks, but i don't know if sinus pressure could be to blame. I also read that it could be related to caffeine intake? I do drink coffee every day, but i have for most of my life without this issue. If anyone here has any insight into this, i would really appreciate it.
Thanks!
