InCD, do you like it?

i just got my liteon 24x cd-rw today. And it came with a nero disk to install nero and InCD. My question is: Is InCD any good? I know it basically is what Xp does.(i use 2k btw) Also the Nero software they gave me, is that the full version or limited?

yah i know, but till today i haven't heard of it, so is it any good? or is it buggy? Also did they give me the full version of Nero 5?

InCD is Nero's packet writing software used for CDRW discs. (like DirectCD for Roxio) You only need it if you use rewriteable disks.

The version of Nero you got is the full version. The only thing that is limited is that it will only work with that drive.
 
it sits in your system tray. you don't get a program or program group from the start menu to click on. it's neither good nor bad. it just allows you to drag and drop. you don't even know its there.





 
I got nero and incd with my ricoh drive ,tho it came on the same disk as the ricoh software.
Ive never used incd as i cant really see any point to it.

Unhappy with the performance of nero I dug a little deeper and found it was only an OEM version.

Meaning what? The only difference between that and the retail version is that it will only work with the drive it came with - besides that they are identical. Maybe you didn't like Nero which is fine, but it wasn't because it was OEM.

the point to InCD is that it is the only way you can use CD-RWs in your drive. If you never use CD-RWs you aren't missing anything.

As for the OEM, it's not OEM. I don't know where you got that from.

You should update Nero, too. Free updates are nice.

 
ok, i notice they have an update 5.5.64, but all there mirrors are down, and the france one is corrupt. Does anyone know where i can d/l the latest update?

I have the same setup you have and I'm happy with InCD. I use CDRWs to backup my Quicken data. So I format them using InCD. I used to use DirectCD with my SCSI 6x Yamaha burner it sometimes I would have problems, although I don't know whether to attribute them to the burner or to the software.
