is it possible in html or javascript or some other type of web based programming to create a link on a website that can constantly update itself showing new mail count in certian free online mail boxes?

im looking to add to my custom homepage links to my mail that i can click to go to the inbox if i see theres new mail instead of links that just take me to the site to login..

Thanks. :D

If they've got pop3 access, it's possible to do it through that. I've never personally done it but I dont think it'd be too hard... although it wouldnt be constantly updating, you'd probably have to refresh your page, and it would cause the page to load a bit slower... unless of course you've got it in ina iframe and pull it in after the page loads, so you dont sit there waiting for the entire page to check yor email. that'd be fine.. I know yahoo's webmail does the same thing, you can add multiple external pop3 accounts and it'll check them for you when you ask it to.

sorry for the stream of consciousness writing.

none of them have pop access but i wouldn't be against learning how to do that (might give reason to use my free comcast accounts i could create) but i need to do it mainly for hotmail and xasamail and yahoo as for your comments about 'stream of consciousness writing' i have a link for you b/c that made me laugh... due to my recent catastriphys (spelling?)
