I have notcied over the last several days an increase in threads referring to things or people as "gay" again. Thought that was verboten?

I am also opposed, there are increasing amounts of profanity all over the forums and fights are stirring up more often. Something should be done soon.

Looks like the idiot got a much needed vacation.

As usual Problemo complains about something again, that in this case is even unrelated to the original post. IMHO, excessive profanity should not be allowed, damnit! (shameless imitation of one of the rules from another forum) 😉

But please, I would hate to see this place moderated G or something. If the moderators did, I'd be pi... uh... maybe shouldn't say that if they do intend to follow through with the horrid suggestion. 😀

jliechty... nobody said it has to be a G rated forum... but comments like that are offensive to many and could potentially result in a lawsuit against AnandTech I'm pretty sure, maybe not... but either way, it's a public forum and everyone is welcome here and has a right to post, gay or straight... white or black... male or female... but as the old saying goes, your rights end at the tip of someone else's nose... meaning, if you excercise one of your rights that violates someone else's rights, you no longer have the right to do that.

I'm not in disagreement with your views at all... Racial or otherwise, insults like that should not be allowed.

However, I just got the impression that someone else wanted the place to be "cleaned up" to a point beyond what's necessary at a place where the age minimum is already 13...

jliechty, in this case it has nothing to do with insulting someone... it has to do with discrimination... just like if he called someone "the N word."

Admittedly, I should have picked a better word, but think about it: wouldn't an American citizen of African descent find the "N" word insulting? Wouldn't a person who prefers other persons of the same sex find the word "gay" used in that context insulting? Ok, just trying to defend my choice of words a little, so I don't look like an idiot. Well, that seems impossible to prevent, anyway... 😉

Well, it's not just African Americans that wouldn't take kindly to the use of that... there are many white Americans, Asians, Europeans, South Americans, etc. etc. that would take offense to the use of that word as well... while it may not insult them directly, they would find it offensive. 😀
