In your opinion: Whats the lowest acceptable refresh rate for a 1024x768 display??

I know everyone has different flicker tolerances, but for those that use 1024x768, id like to know what refresh rate ur using, and if there's a specific reason for that rr selection over other available one's. I use 85Hz myself, and it seems acceptable.

thanks.

Nothing below 75Hz and typically I run at 85. And I've seen some cheap monitors that no matter how you set it, they still look like 60Hz. In fact, I know of one person with such a monitor that has to quit her job because the flicker is giving her health problems. Arrythmia in the heart.

yeah i can do 100Hz on my ViewSonic as well..... You think i should ?

I dont know if it's just my eyes bugging out, or my monitor failing, but the screen gets significantly more blurry when i run at 100Hz...

I won't go with anything less than 85Hz. Each human eye can capture 30-40 frames per second. This means the most you can see is 60-80. 85Hz should be fine. 100Hz may be blurry if the RAMDAC is stressed (Highly unlikely) or the monitor cannot handle the setting. Stick to 85Hz.

I run my Samsung 955DF at 100Hz. Not a trace of flicker -- even when you look at the screen obliquely

Man, if it came down to that, I'd order a new monitor out of my own pocket and have it shipped to my workplace. You can get decent quality 17" monitors for cheap these days.

85hz or higher. I can see the flicker at 75hz. More than once I've invaded a coworker's cubicle to show them how to change the refresh rate because their monitor looked like a strobe light every time I walked by.

75Hz seems good enough to me, I used to run my EIZO like that (even though I could get 110Hz out of it on that resolution). Now it's set to 85Hz but I can't distinguish it from 75Hz anywayz..

I am running at 1280x1024 on a 15 inch monitor with 60hz refresh rate :) It's the only rate my monitor supports, heh. Everything looks good enough for me at the moment, but in the next few weeks I should be getting a new one anyway, this one is a bit dark for me.

If you can do 100 or higher, do it. I have mine at home at 100 and can stare at it all day long. Mine at work is at 85 and I can tell that I get a little dizzy after a couple hours of lookig at it!

My KDS 19" does 100 Hz at 1024x768 no problem. 85 Hz is my general guideline, definately nothing less than 75 Hz IMO.

I use 60 Hz at home (1024x768) and 85 Hz at work (1600x1200), although I can go higher. I can't tell any difference when I bump up the refresh rates, so I don't bother to.

you should always run your monitor at 85
if you run higher or lower you shorten its life.
I didnt think the human eye can notice a difference after 85 anway so why bother going higher and shortening the monitors lifespan ?

120hz, nothing less. When I game, I game at 1024x768 at 120hz -- it makes a big difference.
