In your opinion the best Overclocking board for less then $100

I'm on a pretty tight budget, and I've been offered a chance to get a new motherboard for almost free, I need to keep the price under $100, currently I'm looking at these

Upper-end *almost $100*,

Epox 8kha+
EPoX EP-8K3A
Iwill Xp333
Leadtek 7350KDA

It looks like the EP-8k3a is probably the closest thing to putting me into the next level,

what do you all think? I'm looking for Stability then overclockability, in that order 🙂 Any other recomendations? Do you own these boards? do you like them? would you have bought somthing different?

i havent seen to many reviews of the 8k3a dealing with overclocking

but its the newest/fastest, and knowing epox it probably overclocks like a banshee 😀

that is what I'm hoping for, but I've been hearing it doesnt support vcore above 1.85, and I havent found any HARD data to say otherwise...

the epox 8kha+ is a solid board. as good as overclocker with or ahead of the pack except the kr7a.... as its gone through the motins and been tested and is more mature than the EP-8k3a

i see no reason to upgrade to kt333 since it provide little benefit.

the xp333's perfomance is below par when in the realm of kt266a

never ever seen a review of a leadtek MB, which is usually bad 😉

my vote is for the 8kha+.

dew.

The 8kha+ also does not support vcore above 1.85v.
But, there is a simple mod to motherboard that allows more than 2.0v.
Perhaps this or a similiar mod can be used with 8K3A?
In any event, you can't go wrong with Epox.
Nobody updates bios and strives for top performance and support better than Epox.

For now, seems like most web sites that review hardware use the 8kha+ as primary AMD test bed.
I think that should answer your question about stability.

EPoX 8KHA+ or XP333. Truthfully, that'd be a tough choice. XP333 has all the features you could ever want, while 8KHA+ lacks IO voltage and has vcore up to 1.85v. The other thing XP333 has is 5.1 Sound On-Board as well. I'd have to say go for XP333. It is a tad slower than KT266a but, it's not as big as people are led to believe.

Go for the Epox 8KHA+ then, great board for stabilty and overclocking.

🙂

i would say the 8kha+ is your best bet.......over at amdmb.com they have been talking about there 8k3a's not o/cing very well at all.......check it out....

8kha+......

built systems for my friends using both Epox 8KHA+ and IWill XP333,.. hard choices,... 8KHA+ or IWill XP333?,... both are awesome to overclock and very stable. No difference to me though... it's just a mattter of how much money you'd like to spent.

I'm real happy with my XP333-R, rock stable @ 188*8.5 1598 with my 1.4GHz TBird, on 24/7 for weeks now. You want rev 2.1 if you go with the non-RAID model, but for a couple bucks more, the extra IDE channels are nice with the RAID version. The only real issue I've had is the extremely tight memory slots can be very hard to properly seat your memory, once they're in though, there in.

I can't remember even having to install a chipset driver.

XP1600 at 1.553(locked) on an 8KHA+ right now with ram timings maxed out. Great board. My only problem is having to hit the reset button during a soft bot. Otherwise, it's perfect!
