My normal troops used to get smoked by my friends Space Marines, but I loved all the firepower I had. Plus my tanks used to smoke anything that came near them. I played as the catachans. I had many fun time rolling out a chimera with a platoon command squad in them with 4 flamers, then jumping out and toasting my friends dark eldar.

Now in 2nd edition I used to Orks, boy were those guys weird to play 😉

In all honesty I am surprised they put I.G. in as the new race. I was expecting maybe Tyranids or Necrons (mabe tau), I thought the were just gonna mix the IG in with the space marines like they did in Final Liberation.
 
That's official then? What other info is there on the expansion? Am at work so cannot browse that - feed me!!

The expansion will be Winter Assault, it will be released this fall if it keeps schedule. There have been 2 screen shots released which are both on Relics homepage, both show a Baneblade superheavy tank.
 
Thanks for replying I knew there were some players here 🙂 I was thinking about waiting for the expansion but I am getting so antsy for a new game. I played WH40k DOW single player for a short while and it was decent but I am more interested in MP. I think I will get it Friday and revive this thread with first opinions.

Its in awesome game, best graphics and sound in any RTS to date. It is really fast paced though, if you play multiplayer you have to be quick or be dead and pretty much attack all the time in order to win.
 
i really hope they put more than just IG in the expansion.. i'd love to see tyranids in there, especially carnifex and lictor

Its in awesome game, best graphics and sound in any RTS to date. It is really fast paced though, if you play multiplayer you have to be quick or be dead and pretty much attack all the time in order to win.

I play WC3:TFT currently. I prefer a fast pace. I notice on their website that nobody plays as Ork and almost everyone uses Space Marines. Is this a clue that the races are unbalanced?
 
Very fast paced, faster than War 3 so far.

You can hold back and turtle in mp once you've claimed enough locations to start a countdown...

I played 8 games last night after going through the first 4 missions in single player on hard. Got my ass kicked 7 times, each time in 5-15 mins, once as space marines the rest chaos. The 8th game i won vs Eldar in 16 minutes using Chaos, yay! 😀

I played half against space marine half against eldar. No orks yet, or chaos. Eldar are just a difficult to play against as space marine so far, so no balance issues to report as of yet
 
The races in the table game are very well balanced. Its all about strategy with different strengths and weaknesses.
The DOW videogame only has the space marines in the campaign. I think its a clue there will be more games or add-ons. Maybe they'll rebalance it then.
I just find the space marines to be easier to manage. Less complicated.
There is an old rule that the more complicated a weapon is to use, in battle the less effective it will be overall.
The orcs have too much crap to use well. The eldar are a little better, not much.
I agree that all the Marine Vs Marine battles are getting old. I would like somebody to setup a custom game with 3 marines vs 5 orcs.

Check out the top ladder players. The majority are either Eldar or Ork iirc. I'm enjoying Chaos right now, can't wait to unleash my warp horrors on the next unsuspecting space marine i encounter.

I love the matching system - you can't tell what race your opponent is until you meet them on the battlefield.

Most people use the space marines in the tabletop version, this could be a clue to why space marines are used mostly. I use space marines cause they are the closest thing to the I.G. as of right now.
