Ok guys in two weeks I will be pulling the trigger on my brand new $3500-3800 custom built computer. I would like to ask the people of these forums to confirm that every part I list below will be compatible with each other, have no problems with each other, and will fit snuggly with each other, among various other things. I have been doing research for about 6-9 months on this computer picking my parts, changing back and forth, and patiently waiting for the time to buy. I have decided after going back and forth between AMD and Intel that AMD is the way for me because I would like to be able to have K8L. That is the reason I chose AMD AM2 over Intel Core 2 Duo.

Here it goes:

Processor:
AMD AM2 FX-62

Motherboard:
Asus Crosshair Nforce 590 SLI Motherboard

Memory:
OCZ DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) Special Ops Edition Urban Elite (Only if I can find it online)

OR

OCZ DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) Special Ops Edition

Video Card:
EVGA Nvidia 7950 GX2

Sound Card:
Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty

Hard Drive 1 (For OS and games):
Western Digital 74gb Raptor 16mb Cache

Hard Drive 2 (For everything else):
Western Digital 250gb Caviar SE16 Sata3g

Optical Drives:
2x Plextor 755SA Sata Optical Drive

Case:
Silverstone TJ07 Black with Custom Window with casters purchased from www.performance-pcs.com

Power Supply:
Silverstone Zeus 750 Watt SLI Power Supply

Cooling:
OCZ Tempest CPU Heatsink
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Grease
Stock Case Cooling
Stock Video Card Cooling

Fan Controller:
Aerocool Power Watch

Lighting:
2x Logisys Blue Lazer LED's
2x Logisys UV Lazer LED's
2x Sunbeam White Lazer LED's
2x Sunbeam Red Lazer LED's

Light Controller:
2x Sunbeam Lightbus

Floppy:
External USB Sony Floppy Drive

Noise/Sound Dampening:
Sound Mat
Silverstone Power Supply Acoustic Cover

Physics Card:
This is a maybe but I probably will get one in the future.

-----------------------------------------

That was the computer stuff. I have already purchased my Home theater setup which is below. It is for my bedroom so it is small.

HDTV:
Samsung LN-S2651d 26" LCD HDTV

Surround Sound Speakers:
Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Surround Sound

-----------------------------------------

So I want to make sure that every computer part I listed above is compatible. This means enough power from the power supply, no problems with the memory and mobo working together, no problems with fitting anything, and no problems with cabling or heat or cooling. IF YOU GUYS THINK OF ANY PROBLEMS WHAT-SO-EVER THAT I COULD NOT THINK OF PLEASE POST IT, I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

Thanks guys in advance for responding to this thread and I look forward to talking to you guys about this project. BTW this is my first computer I have ever built and my second PC that I have had. THANKS!

Congrats on trying to build your own! Here's the problems...

First, don't wait for K8L, because Kentsfield is coming out much sooner, and will likely be more powerful. Go Core 2 duo, anything else it just a waste of money

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

Motherboard: Asus P5W-DH Deluxe

Memory: G.Skill 2x1GB DDR-1066 PC-8500 RAM 4-4-4-15.

Video Card: XFX XXX 7950GX2

Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty

Hard Drive: Seagate 320GB Perpendicular Recording

Optical Drive: NEC 3550A (you do not need 2 drives, or overpriced plextor crap)

Case: Antec P180 (much better airflow)

Power Supply: Enermax Liberty 620W (a much better brand, and the modular calbes make it much easier to work with, I'm using the 500W model and it hasn't failed me)

Cooling:
Zalman CNPS9500 AT
Arctic Silver 5 (I'm assuming you do plan to use the AS5 to replace the regular gunk that's on the GPU HSF's and the chipset HSF, that would improve your temps alot)
ArctiClean (To remove the old gunk)

Fan Controller: You don't need one. THe CNPS9500AT Dynamically adjusts the speed depending on CPU heat, case fans you'll usually just want to run at full. they aren't THAT noisy.

Lighting: A rediculous waste of money. No need for them anyway since the P180 doesn't have a window.

Light Controller: again a waste of money.

Noise Dampening: You don't need any of that either, the P180 is designed for minimal noise output.

Physics Card: maybe when it supports more than 1 game (I don't cound anything but ghost recon as a game because they're just demo things)

thats quite some pc u got there, but i would reccomend a few things

first, it looks to me like your going to be using this computer for gaming? am i correct? and if this is the case, you are much better off to be getting an intel core 2 duo extreme. benchmarks show it just crushs the fx-62 in EVERYTHING. i no u want the kl8, but still.... i can see you choosing amd, i have been an amd fan for life. im waiting for amd to strike back...

second, if you go with conroe, you will need a different mobo. i see you are planning on getting a single card for your graphics, so that wont be an issue. (sli)

third, if i were you, i wouldnt get such a high end videocard. reason being: directx10 is coming out soon, and most likly that will crush all the old dx9 cards. so, i would get something to hold you off till then, such as a 7600gt.

ram, sound, hd, psu, opt, case, and lighting all look good.

you are doing the right thing in fully researching this before you make such a good investment.

Well I have thought about the Core 2 Duo. Maybe I will give it some more thought and see what the next 2 weeks bring. Also I want the high end video card because I won't be using SLI immediately AND I won't be upgrading to DX10 or Vista right when they come out. That is because they will both have a lot of bugs that need to be worked out. So I will wait a year then upgrade that. But as for Core 2 Duo, if I got that I would get the 6700 not the extreme. It is a little out of my budget (Yes I know that sounds crazy). Let me see what the next 2 weeks bring. Thanks though.

For your budget, you should be able to to a very solid Core 2 Duo system that will outperform anything current from AMD. I was looking for a new build with a similiar budget & Crescent13 just saved me a ton of work with excellent suggestions.

Bottom line, your best bet is C2D over buying AMD & waiting for K8L.
