What a group. I was recently given Takk... as a gift. This is some of the best music I've ever heard.

Sigur Ros is the band that got me into post rock. Takk is an amazing album, as well as ( ). I saw them live on their tour last year and was totally blown away. By far the best show I have ever been to, and probably ever will go to.

 to Sigur Ros!

They are pretty awesome. Takk isn't as good as (), though.

I had the pleasure of seeing them in a very intimate (~500 person) concert here in Toronto. What really astonished me was how young they all were. Sort of depressing that at a younger age than myself they're that much more talented. :p

That's the hard part about getting older. I'm 22 and I see basketball and football players making millions at age 18. :)

Also, I'd reccomend the following bands if you like Sigur Ros:

Explosions In The Sky
This Will Destroy You
65daysofstatic
God Is An Astronaut
Mum
Russian Circles
Woods and Wires
If These Trees Could Talk

All awesome post rock bands that are easily worth a listen

very silly term IMO that describes the type of music. It is pretty much the instruments used for typical rock music, just used in a fashion completely out of the ordinary. For instance, the guitarist of Sigur Ros uses a cello bow on his guitar to produce amazing sounds.

If you love Takk, definitely check out Ágætis byrjun. Probably their best album.

Jimmy Page did that in 1969... :)

Really I think it is more of a mix of genres using rock instruments. It is basically just prog rock with a new twist (Neo-progressive?). Why come up with a completely new name for something that has been around for a long time?
