I say when it's time to fall back we just rebel and keep our scheduless according to DST. If enough of us do it we will create enough chaos and the fall backs will have to fall in line. Who's with me?

Fuck DST, and fuck the little office bitches that "just love the additional sun during the day" Your "additional sun" is totally worth fucking up my internal clock for the next few months, and it's certainly worth the additional accidents and death caused by the time change so it can be brighter while you go from your air conditioned office to your air conditioned car to your air conditioned house...
Or you know, that it allows kids to play outside more/longer.

People are such whiners about the clock change, every year. I really hope none of you ever travel.

In case anyone was wondering, daylight savings time has NOTHING to do with farming or rural life.
It was invented by the Kaiser to save on fuel costs during the war. It has no place in modern society and really should have been repealed decades ago.
There is no use for an extra hour of daylight in the evenings in modern society? Seriously? I guess if you live in a basement and are afraid of sunlight.

Maybe that's how they do it by you, but here many of us have walking as part of our commute and part of our daily lives to do stuff. So we love having that extra daylight to be outside and run our errands and walk and be out and about. Y'all in car land do what you will with your extra daylight.

See thanks for proving my point.
You have no idea what the fuck you're talking about but you run your mouth anyway.
You are the kind of people who want to keep daylight savings time.

GMT for everyone. Then I wouldn't have to work out what obscure abbreviations you guys are using.
We own time! That's why Doctor Who is always British.

I don’t think the Brits had a lot to do with establishing time zones, a concept first proposed by an American, albeit for use in the US, back in 1869-1870. He (Charles Dowd) proposed it for national railway mgmt…4 time zones. Centered on Washington zone.

He proposed Greenwich centered as a follow up. RR’s took parts liked and off time zones ran. Have never dug deeper to see why the change to Greenwich-centric. Nod to British might? As we were fresh off the Civil War and all.

I sensed a disturbance in the force, wokeup at 3:30(2:30), and couldn't get back to sleep. Now I have to go on a somewhat tricky maple removal on 3 hours of sleep. You DST people can go fuck yourselves.

that's me basically every morning - go to bed at 11, wake up to go to the bathroom at 3 or 4, then lay in bed awake until 6

good luck with the maple

I have no idea what I do with extra evening daylight? Okay. Most nights I ride around the neighborhood or trails with my daughter. The extra daylight helps with that a lot. Especially because none of our parks or trails have lights.

It's also really nice in places that actually get hot, because you can more easily workout in the morning before the sun comes up or during sunrise. It's also great for fishing and hot air ballooning.

So, because you stressed yourself out over a month issue, you are mad at the people that realize it's a non-issue? Waking up at 3:30 had nothing to do with the time change, unless you had to be at work.

Woke up at 2pm today, was hoping to get up at noon. It's weird how just 1 hour seems to screw me up by more than 1 hour. The saving grace is that I'm going on night shift so it hurts less. What's really tough is going on day shift immediately after the change.

Not sure why Congress can't make DST permanent. A bill making it permanent passed in the Senate so it obviously has bipartisan support.

Congress passed it in the 70s. Was supposed to last two years (to deal with the energy crisis) but everyone hated it so much they went back to the current system after ten months.

Partially to do with workers in northern cities going to work in pitch blackness and partially with a bunch of kids getting killed by cars on the way to school in the same pitch blackness.

At the time it passed back then, permanent DST had around 80% support. Currently it has around 45% support. With I think 15% supporting permanent standard time and the remainder not caring. Given that, I would put money on it not lasting even ten months if it somehow did become law.

I miss living in Arizona where there didn't change their clocks all year long. I think there is at least 1 other state in the USA that also doesn't change its clocks... why can't the rest follow suit in this day and age?

also, for the person going on about how it should be listed as GMT =/- hours... I live in the PT, Pacific Time Zone, which is UTC -7/8 Hours depending on whether we are in D or S time mode. Much easier to remember PT (PST/PDT).

The only clock I still use that doesn't adjust itself is the one in my car! ;)

-My understanding is that heart attacks go up around this time of year due to the abrupt change in people's sleeping habits, but I really think its because that ONE GODDAMN CLOCK that doesn't auto update throws you for a loop making you think its either too early or too late.
