I am a person fanatic and advocate of the IBM model M keyboard.
They are built with heavy-duty plastics, have steel internal construction and have lettering that I have never seen wear off. (even with cleaning with harsh chemicals). If you wanted to disassemble the keyboard for cleaning.. you could do it with simple tools.. fully clean each part.. and still put it back together and have it work just like new.
The buckling-spring key switches allow you to type very fast.. albiet with some "noise making".
I don't think this a bad thing. Because you have to apply sufficient force to cause the individual key to "buckle".. you can quickly move and swipe your fingers from key to key.. and get the correct key press without having to worry about inadvertent keypress
Three types of typing feedback that comes with IBM model M
1) visual (seeing character appear on screen)
2) tactile (feeling sufficient pressure and resistance as you initiate each key stroke)
3) auditory (clicky sound)
I've collected and sold several dozens of these things and have been an advocate since they were first released in 1986.
No stupid Windows keys or custom function keys to get in the way..
.. just simple efficient function (you have to wonder why almost every keyboard since 1987 has been essentially based on IBM's 101-key enhanced keyboard design).
