I am leaning towards that Sony, the guy with the Sharp hasn't emailed me back yet.

both have about 6 months warranty left and are under 6 months old.

If I can find one, I am leaning towards a 50" panasonic for 600$ doubt i'll get a 1080p, but I am going to try.

After all of you guys blabbering about 720P/1080P...and what I have been reading..and the lack of 'deals' on craiglist I just opted to get a TC-P50X1.

I went and saw it at best buy, it's a nice looking set. I noticed the difference between 720/1080p (the set next to it was 1080p)...but I guess i'll live, since I am 10ish feet away.

Had to do a little work, but it worked out nicely for only $695~~

865.88 $ initial price
799 $ price matched
850 $ after PM w/ tax (I assume tax still applies)
765 $ after 10% PM from sears
695 after bing cashback

right under my budget 🙂...brand spanking new from sears.

Purchased it with my VISA, so I got an extra year warranty on it.

I hope you'll like your 720P, i hate mine, it does overscan and since native res is actually 1366x768 it has to scale every source.

played MGS4 for about 5 hours on sat/sun...looked great.

Also watched some HD TV from my ViP 722, and it looks great...a lot better then my 37" LCD 1080i...that's for sure.

Spongebob/animated TV looks good..it's like candy in HD, haha

Even though it's 720P, I can walk up to it and it looks less pixelated them my old 37".

What TV do you have? A TV's scaler makes a huge difference. Yes, a 1366x768 does have to scale every source, but a TV with a quality scaler should have no overscan and a really good picture.

OP, I think you made the best choice for your viewing distance and budget, and you got a great deal to boot!

I haven't seen any of those gray lines that cnet noted about on this TV model.

I can't wait to go home and play more MGS4 on it, haha.

A shitty one made by Sharp for HP. Just trying to explain my reasoning why 1080P would be better.

That TV looks like it's mounted a bit high.

I'd move it down, but I bolted the mount REALLY well when we originally moved in..don't want to make anymore holes if I can help it.

Shouldn't the TV be mounted at eye level, or are you one of those people who sit in the 1st row at the movies. Perhaps your parents have their TV mounted above the fire place? Looks weird with the TV mounted so high. And a 720p TV? They still make those? 😕

Oh well, as long as you're happy with your choices. Big screen FTW. I'm thinking about upgrading my 32" 720p to a 46" 1080p when I get a new job with more disposable income.

eventually I will get a 1080p set, but I would have had to get a used 40" LCD if I wanted 1080p at this price range.

Yes it's high, no I usually sit in the middle, or way back in theaters.

My parents had their TV low, except at our cabin, where space was limited, it was much, much higher.
