And now they want to do another spinal tap. Guess 22ml wasn't enough.

Dude...it just keeps getting better and better!!

Good luck. As much as it sucks being sick, IMO, it sucks even worse when you don't know WHY you're sick...Hopefully it will turn out to be something surprisingly minor and easy to fix.

My best wishes to you... What you're going through is more involved than what I had to do last May: I started getting double vision and my right pupil had dilated. Went to the ER and asked them to see what was going on and was I having a stroke... Had 2 CT scans, then 2 MRIs and then a cerebral angiogram. No diagnosis found, but the problem cleared up very quickly after I started taking blood pressure meds. (BP was at 211/135, yikes)

The various medical bills totalled over $100K for all that.

Glad you're home. Thats pretty scary thought. I wouldn't have left without a diagnosis though.

The problem is that some of the tests take several weeks to run. This is particularly the case with a biopsy, where it can take up to 3 weeks of work to get to a result.

I have a friend who had a similar experience, he had a seizure in a Home Depot. They never did find a true root cause but he had to limit his work hours for several months and generally take it easy to try to prevent it from happening again.
If they didn't find the 'true root cause' then they found the fake one? How does one alter the behavior if they do not know the trigger? What if the trigger was from taking it easy? 😱

Just saw a story on the news today....did you get some dental work done recently? could be mercury posioning if the dentist used metal fillings.

No recent dental work. As far as not leaving without a diagnosis, some of the tests they are doing take weeks to run (fungal and cultures). I was not going to stay there for that.

I hope everyything is OK, it was a little over a year ago I was in the hospital. Everything is going good for me, and I'm getting close to being back to normal.

Hang in there man, I'm pulling for you 😉.

Yeah, the cost of medical care these days is a joke, the only bigger joke is how quick insurance companies disallow everything.

Good buddy of mine was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Feb, died 5 months latter in July. In that 5 months he was hospitalized twice, once for 5days the second time for 8days, he had a CT scan and an endoscopic sonogram, and two surgeries to put a stent between his pancr/liver. The only chemo and radiation that he recieved he paid out of pocket $24k for. Upon his death in July the hospital and doctor bills left for his estate to pay totalled $261k. Absolutely fucking ridiculous IMO.

Did you call your insurance within the alotted 24hour period since you were sent to an out of network hospital? that's normal procedure. if you did, they will probably cover most of it leaving you with substantially less.

No I didn't. They never told me they didnt take my insurance when I checked in so I bever really thought about it.

That is scary stuff indeed.

A friend of mine had the same initial problem, it turned out to be prion related (they didn't call it CJD but it had a similar effect).
