I was sitting at my computer the other night when I fell out of my chair and had a seizure. My wife called 911 and I was taken to the er where I was admitted.
So far they have done 2 mris 2 cts and an EEG. Right now I am waiting for a spinal tap so they can check for an infection or something. If nothing comes from that they will have to do a brain biopsy on one of spots they found on my MRI. I have no history of seizures nor is it part of my family history.

Does anyone have any similar experiences they can share and how they were resolved.

My best guess is they will find nothing conclusive and I will be on seizure meds for the rest of my life.

I wonder what the bill would be if I didn't have insurance.

I have a friend who had a similar experience, he had a seizure in a Home Depot. They never did find a true root cause but he had to limit his work hours for several months and generally take it easy to try to prevent it from happening again.

Scary stuff. I hope you get the best outcome from this. Good luck to you!

I work from home and never really "work hard" from a stress standpoint so hopefully that helps. It does help in that I'm not allowed to drive for 6 months (and that assumes I dont have another seizure). Luckily I have my wife to help out with that.

My 11 year old grandson is going through something similar. He has seizures that (so far) have been diagnosed as NOT epileptic.
He's had EEG's, EKG's MRI's, CT scans...and none have shown anything that should be causing the seizures.
The investigation continues.

Scary crap...seizures and such. I guess one way of looking at it is you weren't doing anything where a seizure would have worsened the situations (driving a car, riding a bike, etc). Good luck with it all.

I'd suggest not sitting at the computer again. Were you looking at a certain japanese robot page?

I'm always afraid of this kind of stuff happening. Almost to the point of phobia. You never know when your body is going to go out of whack.

I understand chiropractic therapy may be of help with your seizures...

(seriously though, sorry that happened, hopefully you get it sorted out quickly, seizure disorders are a bitch)

I had one while at college, which was attributed to an antidepressant, Wellbutrin.
I'm told that I lurched out of my chair, and convulsed on the ground for awhile. Once I stopped, they set me up back in my chair. I regained consciousness at that time, and went right back to work at the computer. At some point though, I noticed that people kept staring at me, and that a security guard had suddenly appeared behind me, at which pointed I asked what was going on.
There was absolutely no memory of a seizure. 🙂

My muscles were sore as hell for the next few days though.

I had the full battery of tests then - some head scan thing, tests for seizure triggers and all that. Nothing. So I ditched all the antidepressants. That remains as my one and only seizure ever.

Are you on any similar medications?
