Bigotry is constantly on the move. We hated blacks and Jews and now we're starting to lose gays. The Moooooslams have taken over lately as places to dump our garbage, but they're not really all that common to keep our hard ons up. No, those of us who hate ourselves and need somebody handy to dump on to make ourselves feel better have discovered a new target to look down on as being as worthless as we ourselves feel. And it is the long termed unemployed. Right, those most recently kicked in the ass by our competative structured society are now seen as probable losers. Why else wouldn't they have a job or have been let go. If they were worth anything they would still be working.
So now those who have been out of a job for a bit get to stay that way.
And imagine the misery this will bring, as if that weren't the real idea.
Man oh man, I feel so good because I'm a winner. I work because I'm worthy and I'm worthy because I work.
I'm waiting for the day when the unemployed in great numbers go looking for a job with a gun.
The sword of God is the empty bellies of the poor. A saying
Alright, unlike some of your other posts where I have had much to say in disagreement, I have to completely agree with the basic message of your post.
My understanding of the vast history that surrounds current and previous species in the primate family tree, I unfortunately acknowledge the fact that we may be doomed due to the instincts in our bloodline.
We are tribal; not only have we been so tribal we fight - for blood and glory - among our own blood, many species in our lineage went to the same excessive lengths to prove worthiness and power. Often it was limited to fights for power in the Us group, but great feuds had been fueled over territorial ownership.
We are excessively tribal, and not only do we naturally assign groups to those outside of our main tribal community, we make and segregate groups within our larger tribe. We make
many groups.
We have taken those small groups and made massive ones, thanks to our massive stance across the globe and the inter-connectedness of the greater community at large; that means hole continents can, at some level, feel as if they are in the same big tribal family. But we make our own mini-tribes down to the individual, and that can cause quite a mess.
And we have made such fine weapons to do our bidding; we sure have progressed since the days of large bones.
😉
It'd be quite the coming of age tale if we can actually design out those tendencies through genetic engineering. But wait... some zealots will argue that is tampering with God's perfect creation. We're a fucked up mess of an animal, I can't see how anyone can argue otherwise. I mean shit, our spines are
a disgrace for an upright bipedal creature.
And that's on top of the mess in our heads. We're just resourceful little bastards that won't stay down. As a collective species, we have Napoleon Syndrome - we suck at everything, so we make shit to help us do them, because dammit we're going to do everything anyway. Damn this
Nature, we're gonna do what we want to do!
😀
Seriously, that about does it, if you want to describe the human species. Petulant little shits, the lot of 'em.
We weren't always that way, but we were far too curious, and far too stubborn. Once we got a few positive results thanks to our adventures in curiosity, we got hooked. Everything is the holy grail, one that leads us onto a journey to find the next holy grail. We be sippin on that
awesome, and dammit we want more!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, we
need an alien species to come start some shit with us humans. We need Us and Them groups, it's what our genetics demand of us - and shit, I can't think of a better
Them than some, well you know... other species. We need an enemy that is not human, for that is the quickest way to the marvelous Glory Flag for Humanity, the one sure way to unite the entirety of our species, to drive them to work together on one goal: doing what we do best, inventing and employing ways to kill. A Battle for Earth at least focuses all our pent up demand to save something.
And the other thing is to get our asses off this rock, at least some of us. After we colonize space for awhile, we'll eventually settle back into fighting our brothers, but at least it'll be whole colonies fighting colonies, so if we destroy Earth it won't be certain doom for everything we know.
