looking at the anandtech once over of the cards (8600gts and gt) i'm gonna hold off - granted i'm working with a 7900gto oc'd to gtx speeds but even going to a 8800gts isn't worth it for me - just yet
i wanna see what amd/ati comes out with but i've been with nvidia for a little while now and they've treated me fairly well
by the looks of the once over - new games that are using shaders and are not texture based are where these gpu's shine - only time will tell

Better than a X1950 pro?
Performance-wise? Not likely. But feature-wise, well, it does support DX10.![]()

"For the 8800GTS, NVIDIA recommends a power supply that gives 28Amps on the 12V rails, shared amongst all the computer's equipment."
But on user wrote, "One 18amp line with no lockups, no slowdowns, no anything. The reccomended specs are overkill to say the least."
I have no idea what that means, but I pass it along.

this is the card that every oem is going to put in their comp who want to have a "dedicated video card". It's cheap, powerful enough, and has DX10 capabilities. This is not for the gamer, it is for the casual user that wants a dx10 capable card for vista.
