Are BR jeans pre-shrunk?

My biggest problem is that I go and spend a good chunk of money on a pair of jeans, then it either shrinks too much, or doesnt shrink enough the first time it gets washed. I hate it... its just a guessing game as to whether a pair of jeans will actually fit the way I want them to.

I have around 25 pairs of jeans. I have different brands but the ones I like are made by Marc Ecko (skull symbol) and Guess? jeans. The Marc Ecko's I bought at Macy's and they are really durable and cool looking. Sometime back I was not too crazy about Guess jeans since they made jeans that I thought were not worth the money. I really like the open flare cut ones (forgot exactly what they call it) and have several of those.

Seven jeans.

But they are around $150. I had a pair and loved them but can't justify spending that much for jeans when you can get 3 pairs for that price.

keep in mind it costs $30 to make those $300 jeans (manufacturing costs - doesn't include designer fees).

How would you guys like a non-designer brand jean line with the same high quality, bells and whistles (wash/stitching, etc), and most importantly the same FIT as the $300 designer jeans for $60 but without the label?

$15 Wrangler Relaxed Fit last me quite a few years. Several years of being in decent shape, a few more of being weekend/dont-give-a-damn days.

ANother vote for gap boot cut jeans. I have 5 pairs that go through a weekly rotation, and it'll last me around 3 years or so. Very comfortable and fits great.

i forgot someone on atot was making a company to make fashionable jeans.
EDIT: i've got a dark blue pair of aeropostale boot cut jeans that have been slow to wear. I've got 2 pairs of express jeans (one are x2), one pair of well worn lee, 2 or 3 pairs of levi's (i'm not liking the levi's that i have, so i don't wear them often), and a pair of sonomas.

I bet that english laundry shirt costs minimal amounts too. Although it is a lot more rugged than many of my shirts and is hand stitched.

I don't care about the label. I want my jeans to have good color depth and not wear at the groin or knee after a few weeks. And fit decently. Where do I sign up?

I haven't owned or worn a pair of denim jeans in several years. Marking this thread for recommendations on my next paycheck (as soon as I find work again).

I have found that Lucky jeans are the best bang for the buck with the cleanest cuts. Most of the "higher end" jeans IMHO are styled for metro's and guys who try way too hard. Lucky's have a cleaner more traditional cut, with excellent washes and a super soft denim to boot. I go through a pair every 2-4 years, only because I like to wear them a little long so the bottom of the jeans get cut up. That's not to say that I don't wear them anymore, they're just not "daily" jeans anymore.

You can find them @ Nordstrom's Rack usually for 30-40 bucks. You can get them online, Lucky stores, or some department stores for around 90-120

Just to add, I have never had any rips, tears, holes, or other defects in my history with these jeans that I did not cause myself (ie wear and tear caused by wearing them too long).

I was looking at lucky and liking them so far.

Related question...

A friend of mine told me that jeans-ologists say don't wash your jeans too often because it prematurely ages them. How often does everyone wash their jeans? Part of the need for more jeans is that I felt I did not wash them anywhere near enough. I have 3 pair and I wash them about once a month, which means I guess I wear them about 7 times or so each (I wear shorts at times). I wash my shirts after one or two times, even if I am wearing something underneath.

When I started changing my wardrobe a year ago, I tried on (and bought) more jeans than I care to remember. Now I personally think high-end jeans are a waste of money, if you don't have an ideal body type (I admit I don't...too short). Expensive jeans aren't necessarily going to make a short or overweight person look much better than cheap ones. My $0.02

A couple jeans I've kept that I still like are my Earnest Sewn Hemingways and Gap Goughs. I'd never pay regular price for them ($220 and $98) but I got them on sale for about $60 and $40.

Once a week. I probably wear them 3-4 times during said week (as long as you don't get them too dirty). Solution? Get 2 GREAT pairs and alternate them during the week ;)

I think that applies more for 'raw' jeans, or dark indigo-dyed jeans that aren't pre-washed/rinsed. I guess it's pretty trendy right now to wear them for months at a time without washing them. If you buy a pair of pre-distressed jeans though, it's not going to make much difference if you wash them regularly. They do recommend to wash them inside out in cold water, though.

I also need to lose a few inches around the belt :p and refuse to pay over $30 for a pair of jeans, preferably $20 (because I always end up having to get them altered because I look like an idiot w/ bunch up jeans at my ankles).

not that I know how much lucky jeans really run... I'm also not much for knowing anything about brand name clothing :p

no crap, probably why they wore so quickly. the pair of a|x jeans i'm wearing right now i've worn probably just as much (the h&m jeans are very delicate now so i only wear them out), and they've only got some minor wear down near my heels.

on the plus side, people down here in houston generally are not aware of h&m, so they all think i've got some exotic pre-worn jeans. :)

so when is this jeans company that you've been talking about for the last year or so going to have products?

You're asking ATOT for jeans advice? Look at the ridiculous answers. And god, I can't wait til Western Jeans Avenue Blvd Big Tipper chimes in.
