The problem is Yuku requires registration before posting. Most people view my board and don't feel like going through the registration process even if they feel the slight need of making a qualification. It's going to get worse though once my 30-day trial period expires, Yuku is going to fill my board with ads. :(

I am looking for a msg board host that will allow posting without regisration and hopefully without ads either. Can someone point me in the right direction?

No info on posting requirement. I am guessing it needs registration before posting?

Another vote for SMF

you can configure guests to have any permissions that any other usergroup can be given

I think your message board isn't taking off because no one gives a shit about the Loyola Maymount Lions.

Social networks are the new forums. Try ning.com

For a board that small, you have way too many sub-forums. Start small, with just one or two subforums, then branch out if growth occurs.

You need to attack this on multiple fronts. Have a blog with regular, frequent updates. Have a twitter stream that people can follow. Do a group on Facebook. Have a social network on ning. Once you have all this up and running, don't expect people to automagically sign up. Just setting up the infrastructure isn't enough to get people involved... you'll have to give a lot of personal attention to early users, try to get interviews/guest posts from athletes themselves.
