Been playing plenty of fantasy stuff lately like Heroes of Might and Magic 3/5 and Disciples 2, but no real grognard games in a while. Havent felt that itch since the late DOS, early Win95 days.

There havent been too many in recent years (which is one of the many reasons Trotter left PC Gamer).
I'm looking for something newer, made in the past few years.

I'll take most anything. Hex or not. Ancient fantasy. Future Sci-Fi. Classic Civil War or Napoleonic. WWI, WWII.
Whatever.

Will also heed any warnings of rotten games.

I've been thinking of making a wargame (board) post in OT. Once I get home I'll toss some computer ones here.

Civ IV
Combat Mission (Afrika Corp was the latest in the WW2 era, just released version covers modern day conflict in Syria)
Birth of America
Sid Meiers Gettysburg/Antietam
Strategic Command 2
Down in Flames
For pure hex goodness a multitude of titles from HPS
Silent Hunter 4
The "Wars" Series, can get most of it to date in the Total Eras pack
HOI/EU3
Russian German War/Anglo German War
Company of Heroes
Making History -Calm and the Storm
Galactic Civilizations
Brigade Combat Series
TacOps

That should give you some good hunting through.

For squad-level turn-based tactical combat:

1. Did you ever play the Urban Chaos total conversion for Jagged Alliance 2? It replaced all the maps, switched to Warsaw Pact weapons, added a couple of new mercs and re-wrote the story.

2. Silent Storm
