Here is the story so far:

I ordered a bunch of parts for a work PC

Parts I ordered:

Shuttle barebones
CPU
RAM
HD
CD ROM
Video Card

After assembling all of the parts the system would boot but I would get no video. Thinking it was the video card I took out the video card and I tried the onboard video and still nothing. I then tried clearing the CMOS and trying the onboard video and did the same thing for the video card and still no video.

I swapped out the RAM with some other DDR400 RAM I had laying around and still nothing.

I had a brand new power supply for a Shuttle so I popped that in and still no video.

So thinking I just got a bad Shuttle I RMAed it to newegg and ordered the same one. Once I got it in the same thing happened and I tried all the things I had tried before.

At this point I was thinking maybe Shuttle made a bad batch of the model I had ordered. But before I RMAed the Shuttle again I bought this Shuttle model with this RAM.

Once the new Shuttle and RAM came in I assembled them with the old CPU, HD, CD ROM and video card. You guessed it NO VIDEO STILL.

So now I got back and think about what was the common parts that all three of these setups had: CPU, Video card, HD and CD ROM. I went out and bought a 3.2 single core LGA 775 prescot CPU, a 7300 GS PCI-e video card and a FX5200 PCI video card.
The first thing I tried was the new shuttle with the new CPU and the new 7300 and still no video. I tried every combination, even clearing the CMOS when the configuration did not work, and still no video.

Any suggestion on what to do?

Can a bad CPU damage a motherbaord so that it no longer works?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that when the new shuttle powers up the HD light will come on for a bit like it is looking for something to boot but then goes off.

Nope.

I forgot to add that I tested the monitor, keyboard and USB mouse on another PC and they all worked.

Well I put the prescott into the older Shuttle I had first bought and it worked. I tried every compent with it and they all worked. So the problem was just the CPU.

After looking around some more I found that the P4 Cedar Mill cores are VERY VERY picky about what boards they work in. I guess I found out the hard way :-(

And I found out that the SD36-G5-BK-V1 does not like the Cedar Mill or the Prescott cores even though on the shuttle site the P4 641 is listed as supported.
