In need of major help!!! Cant boot up into XP

I did a virus scan on my computer and it came up with two viruses in the windows\system32 directory. So in order to get rid of them I booted up in safe mode and edited the registry. I deleted all the cmd32 and the netapi records in there as was advised on symantecs website. I was unable to run AVG in safe mode, so I rebooted my machine and it just continually rebooted, it would start to load winXP and then just reboot. Luckily I still have a dual boot, so I booted up into Win 98 just fine. But the problem is I cannot see my winXP drive as it is in a format that Win98 cannot detect.

How do I get it back so I can boot up in WINXP????

One other thing that I did was going into the system32 directory in safe mode and deleted the netapi.* and the cmd32.exe files. What did I do wrong, why cant I boot into XP?

Any help will be very greatly appreciated.

Boot from the Windows XP CD and try to Repair the installation 🙂

If not, stick the drive in another XP (or 2k) machine and get the data and start from scratch 🙂
