Ok, I've been trying to trouble shoot for the last 2 weeks. Here's the situation.

I have the following: (everything is new, as far as I know)
Athlon 1800XP
ASUS A7V8X
512mb Samsung PC2700
GeForce4 64mb TI4200
Western Digital 80gb
Mitsumi FDD
ASUS CDR/RW
Cheiftech/Turbo 420v

Mobo wouldn't post. Looked like it didn't have enough power from a 350v PSU. Thought it was b/c I got a really cheap case from the computer fair. I bought a new Chieftech/Turbo 420v from newegg.com. Installed everything, turn on the power...nothing...the light on the mobo turns on. However, nothing else powers up. No POSTing!!! Nothing but the dumb green light on the mobo.

Can someone please shed some light!!!

Thanks in advance.

take everything out except for the mobo, cpu and hsf and boot it up. if it still doesnt post then it is something wrong with either the bios or the mobo, or the cpu.

Also, try taking the mobo out of the case and starting with just the processor, ram, and video card in. There is a chance the mobo is not mounted properly and touching something it shouldn't.

Have some patience young one. I think IamthePez is right in what to try, also, if your 512 is 2 sticks, only use one. If it doesn't boot, take that one out and try the other.

Attempt unresolved.

These are the only things hooked up...Case, Mobo, Video & Memory...nothing!!! The green light on the mobo lights up and that's it. The CPU fan doesn't even spin. I'm at a loss. Give me some feedback on what to do next. I bought everything brand new and now it doesn't work...soo screwed.

Should I invest in a new mobo & cpu?

Attempted...but unresolved!

I tried it outside of the case. Here's what I did. Took the mobo out, re-installed the video & memory. Re-connected the power switches and power to the board. Power up...hit the power button...the cpu fan spins for approximately 5 seconds...then nothing. I then proceed to remove the video card and try it again...same result...fans spins momentarily and ceases...then nothing. I've gone ahead and ordered a new mobo and cpu to troubleshoot which one is the bad kink. I should receive it tommorrow. I'll swap parts and test. I'll update after this has been done.

BTW...when I find out which one(two) is the bad link, how do I go about getting a refund or replacement(s) from the reseller since I bought the mobo/cpu combo at the fair? Do I just send the part(s) back with a letter of reason for refund or replacement?

If you bought them at the fair...then they must be local. Call the number on the reciept and ask if you can exchange the product.

When I did that, they let me just walk-in (their store) and get a replacement. But mine wasn't in stock so they shipped one down for me and I picked it up then. Takes about a week to ship in something not in stock depending on the vendor.

Hope things work out soon.
