Hi, I'm in a need of a new MP3 player and am considering several options.

Samsung P3
Archos 5/7- Which Are both in the 200 dollar range on Newegg
A Refurbed Nokia N800 for 170.

I don't really need apps. A functional Internet browser would be nice, as well as FLAC support. Thanks.

Well, looking around some more, I've decided between a Samsung P3 or a Sony NWZ-s738F Walkman. Any recommendations?

But, for serious, a Zune HD might not be a bad option. It supports WMA Lossless, which is actually slightly better than FLAC.

How on earth is it possible for one lossless format to be better than another? Unless you meant that WMA lossless is smaller than FLAC or something, which could be a valid advantage I suppose depending on the space gains.

That is exactly what I mean. They're not huge, but they're there. And it should be easy enough to convert from FLAC to WMA Lossless (and back to FLAC, should the situation require it).

You can also stream WMA Lossless to your 360. For me, that's a huge advantage, as my 360 is hooked up to my home receiver and crazy sound setup.

I have another criterion for such devices - the battery must be user replaceable.

One more thing, how strong are glass screens? The Samsung P3 has one, but Ilm not sure how well it would withstand a 4 foot fall onto concrete with a giant glass screen.

I know that the glass screen on the iPhone/iPod Touch is generally pretty tough... unless it falls onto exactly the corner which could then cause the entire thing to fracture. But that is the ony glass screened device that I have specific information on.

I can't think of very many devices that have that option anymore. I left that dream behind when I realized I didn't have much of a choice :(

Luckily my Cowon D2 has amazing battery life and even when it starts to die it'll still last longer than those apple products.
