People value things differently. I'm sure there are folks on a watch forum somewhere who would laugh at how much you paid to put the computer in your sig together.

I guess what i was trying to say was that i don't get the amount of importance other place on how you look.
I.e., being judged because of what watch you wear or clothers you wear or shoes you have.

But this is another thread/topic, nevermind me. I just hate society in general...

I used to do a lot of electronics repair, so I got out of wearing Metal Band watches. I own a metal band that I use for dressy occasions. Just wanted to get a casual kind of watch that I can wear everyday. To those that actually sat back and helped, thank you. To those that prejudged, your lives must seem so ordinary to those of us living below you.

~$30 Timex works for me- I have a Seiko Chronograph Sports 150 (I think...?) that is in need of a battery- I liked that too.

You're both wrong (at least IMO). Generally, the most elegant, costliest dress watches are equipped with leather straps, and if anything a bracelet is the exception rather than the rule.

Nylon straps do tend to be on athletic watches, but also on military ones.

Metal bracelets can really run the gamut, from junky Chinese digital watches to Glaschuttes and other very high-end watches.

Personally, I like bracelets, and many of the watches I have in heavy rotation (including my Omega Seamaster GMT, a Hamilton chronograph, and various Seiko divers) are on stainless steel or titanium bracelets, but I also have some very nice watches on leather, including a pretty old Tudor dress watch and a cool Sinn 656 pilot's watch, and I will sometimes put one of my watches with a bracelet on a leather strap to give it a different, dressier look. When the weather gets hot I will often put one of my divers on a NATO nylon strap, at least when I'm wearing jeans.
