Hey people, very nice place u here 🙂
As u would have guessed i'm new to the forum & also quite new to computers so go easy on me 🙂
Hope i'm in the right place... I'm after a processor which needs v. little power to run.
Just to breif u guys, the PC is for in-car & has a 90watt power supply to play with, ideally the chip should run cool too, anything above 1ghz would be nice. I've thought about an old (lower clock means less heat, right?) intel P4 or celeron, or any ideas would be greatly appreciated (& sorry if i'm ever ignorant- that would be because i'm a noob 🙂)
Thanks 🙂

i'd say a pentium M or athlon xp mobile? both of those have low power requirements and dissipate little heat.

what else is that power supply going to be running?

Thanks for the reply guys, I'd throw in a 200gig hdd, an USB external dvd drive, 512mb ram & a creative extergy sound card.
I guess this is a secondary question but as for the graphics card.. it needs to run windows media center edition.. this is also important to me as I would like to use the TV-out function with MCE, if this can be achieved with on-board graphics i won't need a card,
Cheers 🙂

You might try Advanced Search with "carputer" as the keyword to see what other people have done.

Also the forums at www.Sudhian.com have a lot of people making custom small computers including carputers.

Cheers for the info comatose, that would also explain why my friends MCE runs so slowly 🙂, will look into that too dave, thanks all
