since they say in stock in the product page, and it says OOS when you add it, you can't sign up sadly

the product page needs to say its OOS in order to sign up.
BUT, i found another product thats OOS and I notice they're lazy and are using HTTP querystrings to pass information for their email notification system, so you can just do the following (i simply replaced the product id with the xbox's catalog id)

copy the following link www.overstock.com/?page=PROFRAME&prod_id=10269797&rep_email=youremail@domain.com&REPLENISH=Go..
to your browser address bar, replace where it says youremail@domain.com with your email, and then press enter

i cant say for sure this would work though, but worth a try

I ordered one this weekend at $360.00 and just tried to get the $40.00 difference credited, "Rubin" said that the % off and the $40.00 could not be combined, I spent 30 minutes in chat with him and got nowhere, I will try calling tomorrow, if they still wont give the difference I am going to refuse delivery and dispute the charge if I have to.

Does anyone have an order number or invoice number with both discounts? it would be helpfull to have, you can wait 'til your order is shipped if you want but having that proof would be very helpfull to me, thanks.

The thing is they only ship on certain days (they get special rates, and so wait to ship until the days when they get the rates). Just FYI.

There isn't going to be a price drop. Microsoft already said there won't be a drop. Why would they even need one. the ps3 is 499 and 599. the 360 is already priced lower. With many games coming out for both systems, they will sell quite a few during the holidays.

Companies never say there will be a price drop, though personally I'm waiting for the first hardware revision on the 360.

I wouldn't expect a price drop, they don't need to. They're low enough below the PS3 and due to their higher spec'ed hardware they don't need to drop to compete against the Wii. However, they will likely add value in the form of free games and/or other stuff.

I think I also heard that Microsoft plans on killing off the Core package.

I have a friend who got one and no HDTV, but he still likes it. I would look at reviews and user opinions on the games you're interested in first and see if you think you would like to play them. If you do then I'd say go for it, if not, then wait until there's a price drop.

The nice thing is that you could pick one up and then download demos on Live before you buy the game to see if it might be worth playing.

I got one and I run it on a crappy 20" flat philips tube tv... I was absolutely floored by the graphics last night when I played DOA4... AMAZING!
