July 23rd, 2005. 3:15pm on a sunny saturday afternoon, my dog and best friend; faithful companion and loving pet, was put to sleep. He was having an aweful time, still unsure of what it was exactly, but he was breathing so heavily and for days straight, his eyes said it was time to let go. He had been suffering from epilepsy, but the drugs he was on seemed to stop the seizures. Though we did not get an MRI, we knew he had a brain tumor and possible malignant tumors throughout his body. So in the backyard on the green grass, I watched as my best friend took his last breath as the injection was given. He was 11, and his time came too soon.

Only minutes after the vet, a good friend of ours, left with our good buddy in his truck to be cremated at the clinic, it started to rain. A five-minute sprinkle that seemed to be Charlie moarning with us; crying that he was no longer in our arms, but in our hearts.

We miss you so much already Charlie, until we meet again....

"CharlieDog", "Woofer", "Munchmutt", "Charles", "Buddy", "Chuck", "Chuckster"... we love him so much:

:brokenheart:

I know how you feel right now. I found out 2 weeks ago that my 3 year old has early signs of arthritis and hip dysplasia and will eventually need hip replacement.

My condolences. My friend's cat of 16 years passed away a few months ago. He had that cat since he was 12.

Sorry for your loss. I know how you feel... mine was put to sleep less than 2 months ago, also because of a suspected brain tumor. Life hasn't been the same since.

Your best friend is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge. Hope that brings you some comfort.

"Lord help me be the person my dog thinks I am."

Strange isn't it, how animals bring out our humanity.

You have my deep sympathy.

foo... You just had to bring up the Rainbow Bridge, didn't you?
That always chokes me up.

BTW mdchesne, I'm glad that you were able to be there with your friend at the end.
I wish I'd been home when my pal Murphy passed away. :(
