Yes all OCZ SSD's are devil spawn. Is that what you wanted to hear?
Nope.
Just wanted some feedback about the early days of SSD since I'm sure with all the problems with buggy firmware and limited lifetime of memory--today--is it likely that old OCZ has crapped out.

Oh, and by the way, please don't crap on my thread, xxxxxxx.*

It sounds like the OP wants to know if the drive failed. Well, no-one on this forum can tell you that, you will have to ask your friend/client/whatever.

Other than that, this thread should be locked for being pointless, and inviting flames.

^no need to be harsh. You jumped on the bandwagon before the tech was matured.
Yes, I guess I did jump in too soon. It seemed around that time there was just too much enthusiasm before the negative reports began to appear.

As for harsh, I really don't know what I said that got someone so fired up. He sounded like someone addressing his parents or girlfriend.

I bought an OCZ for my father a couple of years ago and it's been great for him.

Thanks, Stinky. I'm glad to hear I probably didn't unload some bleeding edge poo on someone who trusted in my judgement. Actually, I suppose I could try to contact him. The reason for my digging up this stuff is a rekindled interest for both myself and a friend who wants a snappier system built for her.
I just ordered an Intel 520 Series 60GB SSD for her new system and I think I can finally breath easy doing so. It seems between the years passed and Anand's praise of Intel's resources for verification that it just may be time to make an investment in the technology. Of course, the prices for traditional hard drives is a push in that direction as well.

The failure rates on those early OCZ Indilinx drives were rather high. I went through several RMAs myself.

As an enthusiast, it was worth it, because I haven't have to deal with the pain of having an HDD as my OS drive in years. Would I have given one to a "normal" user at that time? Probably not.
