I have two computers hooked up to a Linsys BEFSR41 to share a cable connection. The problem is that whichever computer gets to the router first (whichever ones starts up first) is getting access to the internet, etc., while the other one which starts up later cannot access the internet. It shows it as being connected via DHCP and receiving the IP in the network properties, but I can access no websites nor can any programs access the web. The only way I can get that computer (whichever of the two it happens to be at the time) to connect right is to turn off my router, cable modem, and machines and start them all up again, allowing whichever computer I want to have access to start up first. Both computers are running Windows XP Professional. This problem is really fraying on my nerves...ANY suggestions, no matter how small or stupid, are wanted. Thanks :)

<< What if you set it up to use static ips? 2 machines isnt worth dhcp imho. >>

Interesting...maybe I'll give it a shot.

How would I go about doing this? Would I just disable DHCP, then go to each of my rigs and enter in static IPs?

Keep those suggestions coming! :)

That should be how you do it. I cant give you specifics because I dont know much about your router. Also check for firmware updates on the linksys site.

Thanks...I already did a firmware update within the last month. I thought it had fixed my problems before, but apparently not...

It seems to work now...I reset my router to the factory settings and put in all my settings again.
