In consistent text on LCD?

I've been noticing lately that my LCD monitor appears to have inconsistent sharpness of text. Does anyone know what might be the cause for this? For example even in this message that I'm typing there are some words that are simply less sharp than the others. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you running at native resolution? If you are running Windows XP, do you have ClearType switched on?

What's native resolution for a 17'' LCD?

I believe I do have cleartype on. I tried changin the clock phase but that only makes other text inconsistent while sharpening other areas.

thanks

It should be 1280 x 1024.

What model LCD do you have? Is there an automatic adjustment setting?

Run Microsots ClearType. It helps a lot trust me (even on native resolutions)

Cleartype bothers me. I'd rather see slightly pixellated black text than fuzzy black, green, and blue text. Using VGA instead of DVI may be a reason for the inconsistency..
