I think only simple calculators, like ones with plus, minus, divide, multiply, and square root. Kind of a pain, but I wouldn't change it looking back.

I will be a junior this fall, and so far:

Calc I and II - no calculators
Calc III - calculators allowed (although their usefulness was limited - the TI89s will evaluate a triple integral but they sure won't tell you how to set it up when all you are given is a description of the region in terms of equations of planes, cones, circles, etc.)
Linear Algebra/Diff. Eq - no calculators, and for a lot of linear algebra problems they wouldn't have done much good anyway

also only one of my EE classes so far has permitted the use of calculators

Both my Calc teachers banned calulators for the whole class. If it was going to be a difficult simplification at the end, the profs just wanted us to break it down as far as we could go. Too much chance of someone using a Calc to do their exam or store notes, which were not allowed. That was fine with me because I didn't want to spend money on one of those nice calcs just for two classes anyway. Linear Algebra also no calculators.

Both calc classes I've taken at the University of Kentucky (Calc I & II) have allowed calculators. It's kinda up to the professor though.

Thats lame as hell....a math class with no calculators. I never will understand why some teachers do that.

numerical computation is usually not what's being taught so the numbers are usually very simple. and if you use a calculator to do the symbolic stuff for you... well that's just cheating imo ;)

No and as a matter of fact we were not allowed to use calculators in any of our math classes.

We were allowed, but no one ever did. There's no point when you can't even do the questions on a calculator (the questions we got were un-doable on calculators anyways... mostly proofs).

What's the highest level math you have taken?

In college-level classes, only calculators like the TI89 or TI92 are even a remote help. Anything else is basically worthless.
