In case you were wondering what the left really thinks about Katrina.

Katrina: Yes, You CAN Blame Bush

I'm still not sure why New Orleans, which pulls in a *lot* of money during events such as Mardi Gras, just sat around collectively wringing their hands when the Corps of Engineers budget was reduced. Why not add an extra tax for hotel rooms, and dump that money into repairing / extending the levees?

Scientists warn us to expect more Katrinas. Global warming -- the existence of which W would prefer to rationalize away -- caused the temperature of the sea's surface to rise in the Gulf of Mexico, thereby transforming what should have been a manageable hurricane into a monster.
Another ignorant moron from the left. Go figger.

Interesting that the new leeves are the ones that failed. More money wouldn't have helped. A good disaster plan from the Mayor and the Govenor would have!

In 2002 the Army Corps of Engineers chief resigned, reportedly under threat of being fired, after he criticized the administration's proposed cuts in the corps' budget, including flood-control spending.

Liberal DSers! Everyone knows that all of the bad in nature developed since 2001! They defeated our strong America and put in a weak, lace cuffed one! It takes time to recover from that.

Looks like the money he spent was wasted! Yhe new leeves are the ones that failed! Flat, thin concrete walls against water, Common! Even I know better than that! Flat surfaces can't stand against stress. They have to distribute the force over a large area in a gradual manner.

Can you please tone down the insulting partisan rhetoric a little bit under the circumstances? This nation has incredible challenges in front of it - this isn't the time for this stupid bickering.

Jesus, how old are you guys? This "dialogue" is at or below the level of "I know you are, but what am I?" Can we please take a sabbatical from the bickering?

I'm sure the right would attack a Democrat president for percieved inaction/incompetence just like the left is right now.

About the only useful thing to come out of the entire disaster is that we know a little more clearly who the complete retards are here on AT.

Tank yoo!

rrriiiiigggghhhhttttt........

all the left think a natural occuring storm is bushes fault. i do however think the rescue/cleanup mission is a total clusterf*ck. but the blame lies from the idiots shooting at the national guard all the way up to bush not standing up quite quick enough. this is huge, we may have lost an entire city, and many of it's inhabitants, and that is just new orleans, the entire gulf from LA to FL are ravaged. but what we don't need to do is bicker over what side is right and what side is left. there are people, american citizens dying, and relief workers too scared to give any relief, and there are federal guns pointed at innocent civilians. something needs to be done, either write the thing off as a total loss, or reassure those people that we are there to help.

screw bush, like this is all about him.

Because the local government didn't care about the funding anymore than the Feds did. Take a look at their disaster planning.

I wonder where Rove's hurricane machine is targeting next.

Maybe some would but I didnt blame Clinton for the floods I lived through in 97.

Another amazing thing is when Grand Forks was flooded and burned down and most of South Fargo as well there wasnt roving gangs of armed looters looking to beat and rape people.

Don't bother. The idiots on both sides of the political spectrum can't help but use this disaster to score political points. It's pathetic, but still they keep on doing it.

Since the disaster my opinion of quite a few members hit rock bottom. But hey, let them expose themselves for what they are. That way we can just ignore them in the future.

Were 50,000 people stranded with no way out of the city and no access to food and water for 5 days?

What's the population of Grand Forks anyway...about the same as the # of people trapped in N.O.

Grand Forks was completely flooded out and their population is 49,231.

Then tack on the thousands in Fargo and East Grand Forks who were displaced.

Ill give you the sheer magnitude of this is much greater but my comparison is valid in the sense that I never blamed Clinton for any of the federal response. I think it took him 2 weeks before he sent somebody to fly the red river valley, or what ended up being the Red River Ocean.

You have to wonder about the integrity of individuals whose first response in a disaster and emergency is to point blame for their own political/ideological gain. There are suffering people right now who need our help and support, and finger-pointing doesn't do them one bit of good. Let's stay on target here, eh?
