In case Rossman hadn't convinced you already:

i prefer my s230, thankyouverymuch

[The PowerShot 'A-series' are Canon's entry-level digital cameras, the A60 and A70 replace the A30 and A40 of exactly twelve months earlier.]

BLECH that is the ugliest camera ever!! sorry rossman, but the s230 is so much smaller, sleeker, sexier AND simpler.

Too damn small, I want something substantial in my hands which feels like a digicam.

I also like the fact that the A70 uses regular AA's and has both manual/auto controls.

i want something with a small form factor and very lightweight which i can slip easily into my pocket and stll take bada88 pictures with. and i cant imagine going with a non-rechargeable....

to each his own i guess.

yep, some people just like to take pictures with devices that resemble microwaves I guess. 🙂

I too prefer the 'S' series. The fact of the matter is that the 'S' cameras are so much more functional because you can take them EVERYWHERE, due to their size. I'd miss out on a lot of pics, if I had a larger camera.

Btw, the 'S' cameras do have manual functions. Although I don't know if one has more functions than the other.

I have a A60, and I love it. My first digicam, although I agree I would like to get something smaller for those times where carryiing around a camera all night is not convient.

A70 has MORE manual functions than the S series. It is a fully manual function camera. (ie... good for people who want full control. or people that are trying to learn).

It isn't that big. It's still somewhat small. Small enough to fit in your pocket if you have big pockets. Although the S series is MUCH more convenient.

And by AA he does not mean non-rechargeable. He means nimh. Which is rechargeable. It is also ridiculously cheap. Can be had for $1 each and lasts a long time. It's good because you can always have 2 sets (one in the camera. one somewhere else) so if you run out of batteries in the middle of the day you aren't screwed. It's VERY convenient.

One last thing... Broohaha, do not diss RossMAN (or his interests). EVAR!

(no i'm not 80 years old - i'm only 22.)

i love my A40 ... almost bought the A70 for the manual controls. Decided to spend money towards more gear for my 35mm and then save up for the Nikon DSLR.
