In a relationship, does the height of the partner matter? What is your opinion?

I am 6' ft tall and my gf is only 5'1 i think. So her height is just at my shoulder w/o reaching my chin. My parents say she is too short for me and that i should go find a taller girl. Other than height, she is very cute. We are both asian btw.

But hell no, I am not leaving her just because there is a height difference. We get along very well and loves spending time with each other. We went on several trips in the summer and had a great time.

What should I do to convince my parents? Anyone here had similar experience?

No, my parents never said to me that I should break up with my gf or ex gfs because they were shorter than me. What's your parents logic behind that request?

Their logic behind this is that when she stands beside me, we look a bit off because of height which I don't give a rat's a$$ about.

They didn't ask me to break up with her but recommend me find a taller girl.

Parents..sometimes they drive me nuts.

If you'd actually consider breaking up with you're GF because of what your parents said about her hight then you're a dumbass IMO.

I'm 6'3" my fiancee is 5'4" FWIW.

I'm 6'3", my girl is 5'4". She just barely comes up to my shoulder. It's never been a problem. Tell your parents to STFU.

Respectfully tell your parents that her height shouldn't be an issue since she makes you very happy.

You're asian so convincing your parents isn't going to happen. You can't just suddenly reverse 1000 years of Asian customs/tradtions. The reason why they want you to get with a taller girl is that once you decide on getting a child(for an asian parent, its not if, its when) you'll somehow get a better chancr of getting a boy...its sounds like bs but its the complete and hidden truth.

I guess the best way of making your parents "happier" is to tell them that your current gf is the tallest one that you've found...or something along those lines....

Just because you live under their roof, doesn't mean you have to listen to them if they're not making any sense.

If they worry about babies, she can fatten up and their will be no problem giving birth. The baby will come out small but not grow up to be short. Lots of milk, good nutrition and exercise will help immensely.

Have you seen pictures of Doboji and his fiance? ;) :p

It is like putting a giant and a tiny mouse beside each other.

I dont know. I dont think i coudl date a girl that was a lot taller then me. I dont mind if they are taller...just if i have to get on my toes to give her a kiss that just seems arkward to me.

Me: 5'9", GF: 5'0". It isn't quite the same height difference of others in this thread, but it is close.

The difference is not an issue at all. I make her happy, she makes me happy. The only time it has ever caused any problem is when we try to kiss for 10+ minutes standing up (we get sore necks). However, I take that as just another reason to lay on the couch/bed and kiss for long periods instead. ;)

Dealing with your parents can be tricky. Some parents are way over meddling like that, and others aren't. Ultimately, you'll have to convince your parents of all the positive things about your GF.

Your parents are thinking about the genetics angle for your kids. Pay them no heed.

Please clarify, i would like to know more. I know that the height of kids is determined partly by genetics and nutrition. But the genetics part is purely stochastic?
